Post # 10 There’s something you need to know

Having left Sickbay with Will, they made their way to Cyndi’s ready room to give her the unexpected news. Arriving at the door Amethyst gave her husband a nervous glance before pressing the chime and waiting for an answer.

"Come in" Cyndi called closing her lap top

As they walked inside and took a seat Amethyst looked at Cyndi. “Captain, it seems that I’m pregnant.” She looked at Will then back at Cyndi. “According to medical scans I’m two months pregnant with a hybrid child. At current rate of growth Will and I will have our baby in approximately ten days.”

Will heard the words but couldn't still quite believe it.

"How is that even possible? No one has a child that fast," Cyndi asked "Just what type of hybrid are you talking about?"

"It seems the seed Brol gave me turned me into a hybrid of sorts, according to Brol I'm carrying a part Brol child."

"Those seeds are growing in the science lab, do I order Herculoid to destroy them. You mean to tell me your going to give birth to a hybrid that is part tree?" Cyndi said "What are your plans as one thing I want you to remember the safety of this ship is my responsibility and those Brol can be big. Is your body even going to be able to deliver it?"

"According to Doctor H'iri my baby is humanoid, with the exception of an accelerated growth rate. As for the seeds they're fruit as far as I know, the only one with the full facts is Brol."

"I'm a scientist as well. I'm going to go see what kind of seeds are growing in the lab," Cyndi said "With an accelerated growth for having this baby are you aware it very well could e accelerated in growth once you have it meaning the child can grow and ages very quickly."

" Commodore the Brol told me once it is born it will be fully human and Brol. What ever that means." Will told Cyndi.

"It's not just the baby, it's me too. I'm part Brol too, not that I understand what that means."

"Wait you mean this Brol changed you too?" Cyndi asked.

“So Brol tells me, I don’t fully understand it yet. I don’t feel any different.” Amethyst sighed. “I’ll undergo any tests you want me to have Commodore.” She paused. “Wait ... Commodore, you got promoted! Congratulations.”

"I'm going to want a full medical work up on you and I'm going to want all findings sent to the science chief as well," Cyndi said. "I've seen a lot of things over the years and this is something I've never seen or encountered. I'm concerned it's dangerous to not only you, but to my first officer and to my ship. And yes I've been promoted. Came as quite a shock, the admiral is a colleague of mine and he's actually aboard and will be for some time. We're going to have orders and only he knows what they are currently. I'm also responsible for his safety too."

Amethyst nodded. “I understand Commodore, I swear to you I’m not a danger to this ship. If I thought I was I’d volunteer to leave.” She looked at Will. “I won’t put you or anyone in danger.”

"I know you won't," Cyndi assured her "And I trust you'll keep me posted on anything that happens."

" I promise too ma'am." Will added.

Both officers exited her office and seconds later the comm channel rank for Cyndi.

" Captain may I speak with you? I can come to you or you to the arboretum?" Brol called as if speaking of the devil.

Not sure how the crew would react to seeing a walking tree Cyndi tapped her com-badge "I'll meet you there." Cyndi left her ready room and made her way to the arboretum. Spotting the Brol she walked over to where he was "What can I do for you?"

" Cyndi I feel bad. I wished only to give my friend what she wished for. Now it seems I have done just the opposite. The fruit of the tree of life is extended to all who seek it."

"That it may be, but in most species mine included we prefer to let nature take it's course. By her taking that fruit you've altered her and now her unborn child is a hybrid between her species, yours and the commanders. No one know what that is going to do to her when it comes time for her to deliver the baby or what kind of life it will have," Cyndi said

" Cyndi my species is under siege.,Our world has been overtaken by the spider species. We were fleeing our world when you found our ship. My gratitude to Amethyst was to ensure her baby survive life. Once she joined with the husband and procreated the baby was formed. This child will be a blessing. It is not permissible by natures law to abort this life." Brol answered.

"That is not my call to make," Cyndi replied "I'm just concerned for her. Your sure this will not harm her and what of other children she may wish to have?"

" Amethyst child will live. The risk to her giving birth is the same were she not blessed of the fruit. As for the future I can not say. You see this has never been done before with what you call mammals. Another thing Captain, concerning the arboretum, do you intend these plants to live longer as well? There are natural alternatives on this ship I can use to boost their fruit and flowers growth." Brol replied.

Cyndi looked around the arboretum and back to the Brol "To be honest I never gave that a thought. Let me ask you this, there are certain insects and reptiles and birds that live in here. Will altering the life span of the various fauna and flowers affect them? I for one have a pet snake that at times I do bring in here so he can happily munch on some of the things he likes to eat. He was a gift to me many years ago and I don't want anything to harm him."

" Nothing I do will harm anything else on this ship. Especially your...snake." Brol replied.

Cyndi chuckled "I take it your not fond of snakes? If it can be done safely then you have my permission."

" My planet was once a pristine paradise until the spiders arrived. Those of us who were higher functioning had to escape with our lives. On Brol there was no violence until that time. What is a Snake?" Brol replied.

"A snake is a reptile, they are harmless to trees, plants and such," Cyndi said "Some eat bugs and insects like spider,"

" Eva installed a computer for me to research. I will look up SNAKE." Brol replied. It was hard to tell if Brol had a sense if humor.
