Post Number 53 Reassuring

Cyndi after forwarding the information from Paul to the rest of the ships headed off the bridge to grab a bite to eat. Cyndi made it a point to walk past the VIP quarters where the children were. As she passed one Cyndi heard the sounds of someone sobbing, using her over ride codes Cyndi walked in as soon as the doors slid open, seeing a young girl sitting on the floor hugging her knees, the girl was crying her heart out. Grabbing a cool washcloth from the bathroom Cyndi walked back to the girl and sat down next to her and gently wiped her face and pulled her into a hug and let her cry.

After several minutes the little girl looked up at Cyndi "I'm sorry," she said taking the wash cloth from Cyndi and wiped her face

Cyndi took a finger and lifted the child's chin so she was looking up at her and mom mode kicked in "You have nothing to be sorry about. Your scared, missing your parents and I have no way of knowing what you saw before Jensen hid you kids," she said gently "My name is Cyndi, what's your name"

"I'm Misty and I'm 12, please don't tell Jensen or anyone I was crying. I'm not a baby,"

"Your not a baby, tears are good, even I cry sometimes," Cyndi said

"Do you have any kids?" Misty asked resting her head on Cyndi's shoulder

"I do, I have a little boy, he's three and his name is Brent," Cyndi said stroking Misty's hair

"Is he here?" Misty asked

"No, he's on my home planet with my parents. My life is pretty busy. I'm the commanding officer of this ship and it keeps me busy. I do miss my little boy a lot. You know what I like to eat when I'm scared?"Cyndi asked

"What?" Misty asked

"Hot Fudge Sundae, with lots of hot fudge, sprinkles, whipping cream and cherries on top," Cyndi said "How about we go get one."

Misty nodded and got to her feet, Cyndi stood as well "Can I stay with you? I'm too afraid to be alone as I don't want them bugs to come back and if you say everything is okay I'll believe you."

Cyndi hugged her and knelt down to be on eye level with her "I can't promise it's going to be okay but your safe here and yes you can stay with me. I have plenty of room. Let's go get that Sundae and then we'll go to my quarters. In fact let's see if everyone wants one and if your all too afraid to be alone you can stay with me. I do have a pet, he's harmless."

"What kind of pet?" Misty asked

"When I was on my very first ship as a junior officer ship I was on went to a planet and we helped them The chef of the tribe we helped gave me a baby snake. He was only a foot long when I got him. I named him walker and he's not twenty feet long and lives in a big tank in my quarters," Cyndi commented

Misty laughed "You have a snake named Walker, only snakes don't walk they slither, your silly."

Cyndi laughed glad the girl was laughing too. "I guess it is funny having a snake named Walker. Let's go get your friends and go get those Sundae's if they want one and if you all want to you can camp out in my quarters. Come on."

Cyndi and Misty left Misty's VIP quarters to find out if the rest of them wanted to stay with Cyndi and if they wanted a Sundae.
