Mission:
Wedding Blues And Trouble
Location: quarters
Timeline: current
ON:
Ro was sitting at her desk in her quarters. Dwight and the kids were out and about, their father wanting to take them on a walkabout to get to know the layout. She had been in deep meditation for over an hour, and all she could feel through the Core was that uneasiness about something elusive. But, any further knowledge escaped her.
"Bridge to Commander Green."
That snapped Ro back to the present immediately, so she sat up and raised her screen from within her desk. "Green, here."
"We have a Commander Riley calling from Starbase 27, Number One. He says he needs to speak with you, or the Commodore."
"Pipe it to my quarters, Bridge." The Bridge acknowledged and soon enough the face of a Starfleet officer appeared on her screen. "Commander Riley, I am Commander Green, Number One for the USS Amandora. What can I help you with?"
The Commander gave a smile, not expecting such a beautiful woman to answer his call. However, that thought passed quickly as he got down to business. "A pleasure to meet you, Commander Green. I am the commanding officer for 27, and we have found one of your lost sheep. Sending her reports, and ours, to you now. There is a note from Commodore Statham enclosed within."
"Lost sheep?" Asked Green, confused by his word choices. Even as she had asked that it dawned on her who he could mean. "Our Cadet! You found her?"
"More like she found us," he gave a chuckle, the smile remaining strong. "She not only kept her crew alive, but protected them against Orion raiders, capturing them all, including one Lieutenant Kirk."
"What?!" Green did not expect that kind of news. "How did this all come about...no, wait. I'll read the reports for myself. Is she in good health?"
Commander Riley laughed. "Oh, for sure. She was the only one not injured during the whole situation, but she gave those thugs a beat down and saved a superior officer in the process. Once they were safe she then took it upon herself to destroy the Orion blockade runner in orbit over the planet she had crashed on. The crew, and Kirk, were then taken into custody and delivered here."
It was Green's turn to smile. "Knowing Ainkara the way I do, I find that to be par for the course. Is she available to speak with?"
"She is, but not on 27." Riley explained. "She is currently heading your way aboard the USS Finland. They will rendesvous with you at Cardassia and transfer her back to your command before returning to 27. An added notation, Commander. Commodore Statham promoted her to LT(jg)., along with a couple of commendations. That woman doesn't need the Academy, she needs a position. HQ and the Council were in full agreement."
"That is welcome news, Commander Riley." Green continued to smile from ear to ear. "I was wondering why we hadn't heard anything since she departed for the Academy. I'm glad it's good news."
"Glad to pass it on, Commander Green. Take care out there. Riley, out."
Green reached out and closed down her computer, then stood up and pumped her fist once. "Yes!" It filled her heart with joy to know that Ainkara was alright, and had done great things to see to others. The very foundation of the Meji Order as much as it was a Federation credo. Her choice of acolyte was proving to be worthy of the title. Dwight and the kids came in the door and Green ran around her desk and hugged Dwight first, then both her children. "She's alive!" She said with excitement.
All three looked confused, with Isaac and Alona looking at each other like mom had drank too much fermented nectar. Dwight decided to ask the question on all their minds. "Who? Who's alive, dear?"
"Ainkara! My acolyte and a Starfleet Cadet! I was almost at the point of going in search of her, but she arrived at Starbase 27!"
"Glad to hear it," Dwight said, smiling at how happy she was. "I vaguely remember her."
"She is Meji, mom?" Alona asked. "What about us? We're your children. Don't you think we should be trained along with her?"
Green's exuberance dialed down as she looked at her children. "Of course you'll be trained. But, I was not going to make that decision for you. When you felt ready then we could begin. Just know you are in for a lot of hard work and study. Being Meji is not an easy path."
Isaac gave his mother a serious look. "If it was easy everyone would be doing it. Well, those who can access the Core, anyway."
"The Meji will not be just Core users, son." Green said. "There are many without the ability to manipulate the Core who would honor us with their skills and input. I consider Nira an honorary member of the Order, and her Eldritch magick provides abilities we do not have. Are we impervious, no. But, together, with combined abilities, there is not much that can withstand us for long."
Dwight broke up the metaphysical discussion. "Alright, break it up. Like your mother said, study is a part of your training. Go to your room and get to it. You still have much to learn to fully integrate into galactic society." The kids gave him nods, playfully pushing and shoving each other on their way to the room, competing for who would get through the door first. "So like their mother," Dwight quipped.
"Piss off," Ro said in jest, giggling even as she stepped in and kissed him. "I need to file a report for the Commodore, so she knows Ainkara is safe and on her way back. And, that she made LT(jg)."
"I'll start lunch."
Going back to her desk, Green filled out a report for Cyndi, telling her all that she knew, and sharing the log reports from Ainkara in regards to what had happened and what she had done. The commendations and rank were also included. Happier than she had been since the day her kids arrived, Ro got up and went to the kitchen area to assist her lover.
