Location: Briefing Room

OFF:

This will begin our new mission.

ON:

Hank walked into Cyndi’s ready room and waited until she finished the report she’d been working on. When she finished Hank nodded “Call your senior staff to the briefing room and I’ll give you your new orders.”

Nodding Cyndi tapped her com-badge “This is Commodore Song, the following officers report to the briefing room for our new orders, Commander Raymond, Lieutenant Khan, Lieutenant Saunders, Lieutenant Herculoid, Doctor Bjorgo, Counselor Raymond, and Captain Porter.”

“I know your curious Cyndi,” Hank said handing her a PADD “This is why I want your ship to take me out.”

“Tall orders,” Cyndi replied “This is going to be a long meeting. We better get to the conference room.”

Cyndi and Hank walked into the briefing room to await the senior staff.

Amethyst had been up early, her morning sickness was finally easing off thanks to being in the third day/month of her pregnancy but she'd woken up early hungry and thirsty so she'd had her breakfast, leaving a note for Will she'd taken a fitness walk around a few decks of the ship before dropping into her office. With the call to report to the briefing room she picked up a PADD for notes and headed straight there. Walking into the briefing room she offered a polite smile to Cyndi and Hank, "Good Morning." Heading to the replicator she got herself a drink of juice before taking a seat and waiting for the others to arrive.

Will Raymond arrived next having been at the Conn.

" What's up?" he winked.

Amethyst couldn’t help but smile at her husband, his charm got her heart fluttering every time. “I’ve no doubt we’ll find out soon enough Commander.”

" How is the baby?" Will whispered.

“Just fine” Amethyst whispered in return, “As am I” She smiled warmly.

" Of course my beloved. I just hadn't seen you all day." Will explained as he wiggled out of trouble.

Amethyst kept her voice low. “I know I’m sorry!” She offered an apologetic smile. “I was awake early and I didn’t want to disturb you.

Will leaned in and almost kissed her but held back. " Do you feel anything with the Commodore? She has been very distant lately."

Amethyst paused for a moment. “To be honest I don’t think she’s sure whether she trusts me or not.” She kept her gaze firmly fixed on Will so as not to give Cyndi the idea that they were discussing her. “I’m an unknown at the moment, part of a species we practically know nothing about. I don’t blame her for being cautious.”

" Well I trust you with my life."

Amethyst would have kissed him there and then if she could but work hours meant a professional demeanor at all times. “And I you Imzadi.”

Will then focused on the Commodore's movements and her guest Hank.

"We'll give the others a few more minutes and then I'll turn the floor over to Admiral Snow," Cyndi said.

Admiral Hank Snow had been known to Will by legend. This would be big news indeed.

Lieutenant Saunders was becoming used to his new role as Chief Engineer. Entering the conference room, Damien nodded at the others already present. He gave a salute to Admiral Snow, Commodore Song, and Commander Raymond.

He stifled a yawn, having spent some time on the holodeck as the Counsellor suggested.

“Good day.” He wasn’t sure as to the time it was. He had just checked his wrist chronometer, Saunders smiled. He was quite interested in hearing the Commodore’s orders.

" Hello Mr Saunders. " Will greeted.

“Hello again Lieutenant” Amethyst smiled politely at Damian.

Captain Porter and 2LT Foster entered the room together. Though Foster wasn't under Porter's command, the two still were hard-working Marines.

"Ma'am," both said, acknowledging the ship's CO, and nodding to the others in the room.

Will stood up and walked over to the Commodore and Admiral.

" Sir, Ma'am any chance in getting a heads up before the meeting? I hate surprises."

Hank looked from Cyndi to her XO "Commodore I'll be back after I bring the commander up to speed. Await my return. Commander join me in the commodore's ready room and I'll tell you what she knows then we'll come back and fill everyone else in,"

" Yea sir." Will replied.

Cyndi shook her head as Hank and Will left the briefing room.

Saunders could not help but notice the quick side discussion from the Admiral, Commodore Cyndi, and the ships XO. He let his eyes gaze on his PADD for the moment, and then back up as the two men had left the room. ‘This shall be interesting,’ Gavin thought.

Hearing murmurs among the remaining officers Cyndi held up her hands "Settle down everyone. The admiral and XO will be back in a few minutes,"

Will quickly reentered after his short meeting with the Admiral.

Seeing Hank follow Will in Cyndi turned to Hank "Everything okay?"

"It's fine," Hank assured her as he looked at the assembled officers "I know your all wondering what is going on and why I'm here. As I informed the commander in private I'm here for two reasons. The first you already know and that was promoting your captain to Commodore. The second is we're heading to a brand new star base. It has a skeleton crew on it. Mostly civilian engineers. By the time we arrive the rest of the crew should be there. I'm going to be assisting the captain of the starbase in getting it running. The name of the starbase is Mercury. Cyndi your going to be assisting me, Commander Raymond With your background at helm your duties will be instructing and making sure the shuttle pilots are ready for anything. I want them able to enter, exit and land safely, I want them able to dock safely with the docking rings on the starbase and each ship that comes along with landing and taking off on planets and other space bodies. He already knows this. Lieutenant Herculoid, your going to be assisting the science chief getting science set up and running."

Tara nodded "That won't be a problem sir,"

Consulting a PADD Hank continued "Lieutenant Kahn, your new to the ship but your also chief of security/ tactical, you'll assist getting the starbase security/tactical set up and operational, Lieutenant Sauders, your the chief engineer, you'll assist getting the engineering department up and running, Doctor Bjorgo as CMO your going to assist getting the sick bays set up and ready. Captain Porter being your in charge of the fighters on this ship your job is to make sure base fighters are ready for anything. I want them able to defend that base. Counselor Raymond I hesitate to permit you to do anything as your close to giving birth and I am not willing to risk you in any capacity. You wont be able to leave a newborn alone and the hours needed over there can be long. Does anyone have any questions regarding your assigned duties? Your helm officer has already been given the coordinates to Starbase Mercury and we're en-route as I speak. We'll arrive in a few hours."

“Captain ...” Amethyst looked at Cyndi. “With all due respect I’ll be capable of working for another three or four days yet. I’d like to be useful if I can, maybe I’d be able to help out in Sickbay on the station?”

"That counselor is up to the chief medical officer," Hank replied

"If Doctor Bjorgo says its okay I'll permit you to work on the station for two days," Cyndi said. "I'm responsible for everyone on this ship that includes your unborn baby."

“Yes Captain” Amethyst nodded.

Will looked to Porter and Foster to confer.

" Guys I will need some support here with your pilots. I also need a personal favor. My wife is super pregnant and I need you to help me keep her safe on that station. She's Betazoid and is very keen witted and stubborn."

"That all depends on what the Chief Medical Officer has to say," Cyndi reminded them.

Amethyst gave her husband a look that said they’d have to talk once the meeting was over, but said nothing.

" One more thing I will add. Our departments are taxed as it is but we can do this. Department heads make sure you teams are rotated and rested up. We are supporting a starbase and maintaining a starship too. When this is done we are going to have one hell of an RnR." Will added.

"The only thing with the starbase is you'll be assisting the department head over there getting set up. Once the base is fully operational you'll be pulling out," Hank said.

Kahn had acknowledged what had been said to her by giving a crisp nod.

Doctor Bjorgo also gave a nod of acknowledgement, and then Amethyst had put forth her query. "Lieutenant Raymond is cleared for leaving the ship. Make sure you stay hydrated, the little sapling requires far more water and you have been on the cusp of dehydration since the pregnancy began. Also," he added. "Don't eat anything you don't know about while on the starbase. I would like to avoid another medical mishap."

"I will remind you all that starbase, or not, away team protocols need to be maintained," said Kahn. As Security Chief it was her job to keep these people safe, from themselves as well as others.

"Point well noted and good job lieutenant," Hank commented

"Counselor as long as you follow Doctor Bjorgo's orders I'll permit you to go. I fully agree with him," Cyndi said looking around the room "Everyone know what your to do once we get there?"

Amethyst nodded. “I’ll abide by the Doctor’s orders Captain” She gave Tore a warm smile in gratitude for him approving her going along.

"Okay that's it. You all have your orders," Cyndi said "Dismissed."
