#5 Making plans

After a few days of fun in the sun with family, with a light measure of exploration done on a professional level, Ro, Dwight, Alona and Isaac sat around an evening campfire next to the runabout. They had the awning rolled and pulled back so they could observe the stars with just the firelight. Dwight was out at the fire with the children, while Green and Ainkara were inside donning their Meji garments and gear. Green liked the sleeveless light leather tunic that folded over itself over the front of the chest, using an adhesion technology from an Orion clothier Ro knew personally. No zippers, buttons, snaps or otherwise (Meji garments in Green PC pics for both Ro and Ainkara). Just the folded organic material melded together as if it never was apart. When Ro had handed Ainkara her saber, the woman showed her surprise.

"Master, I thought you said that these needed to go. To leave this galaxy." Kara quirked an eyebrow with her query.

Green gave a light giggle at her expression. "I did say that. Then, the other night, I walked into my quarters and there they were, sitting on my common room end table. All I can think is that Qeritas is making sure we have what we need to fight."

"To fight what?" Asked Kara.

"That's what makes me anxious," admitted Ro. "I haven't heard from her which is odd. Perhaps she is gathering more information before laying it at the feet of the Meji."

Kara gave a crooked grin. "I think you'll like where we're headed. During our cruise here I did some research. There are ruins on two of the worlds here, and with the scientific clout Dwight has I'm sure he can arrange a residency for the sake of research, sort of thing."

Green gave her an odd look. "Is there a reason for all of this?" She grinned.

"The Meji Order needs a base of operations. This star system, designated as a starbase entire, provides that. Ruins we can use to live in, to get away from the hubbub of technology and commune with the Core." Kara's eyes were alight with happiness. "It would be protected by those around it while we're gone. I know you know people you can recruit, and have been for months now, for the foundation of the Order. Every organization needs a power base and structure at the foundation, then build up from there."

Green returned the grins she was getting. Ainkara was on a course no one could steer her away from. Ro had several pages of names of people she knew from all walks of life. Some even had prestige and credentials from atop the pyramid of social hierarchy. But, no matter how wealthy, powerful, or even cynical they all shared the same outlook. Freedom and liberty for all within the Meji Order, whether actual members or simply 'family'. "Alright. Let's go sit with the others tonight, then at first light we'll head out for the ruins. All of us. Dwight will want to see them himself before making any decisions in regards to staying here."

Kara's smile was heartfelt. "It needs to start, Master. Now is as good a time as any, wouldn't you agree?"

Ro gave a chuckle. "I do. Now hush and come on."

The two of them stepped out into the cool night air, the stars wide open for view. They went and took their seats and joined the others, the group laughing and talking quietly as they looked at the stars and just enjoyed each other's company.
