Mission:
Character Development
Location: Star Base Danvers, Hank Snow's Office
ON:
With the supply requests in and Paul attending a conference, Cyndi made her way to Hank's office, she chosen a white skirt, dark blue shirt and sandals. Arriving at Hank's office she found his office door locked open, Hank was leaning back in his chair with his feet propped up on his desk, sensing someone looking at him he glanced up from the report he'd been reading and seeing Cyndi gave her a broad smile as he got to his feet.
"Cyndi it's about time you came in to see me, and where is that husband of yours?" Hank said offering her a chair
Cyndi took the offered seat "Paul's at a conference he wanted to attend and I just submitted the supply requests to your people."
"You look troubled, something bothering you?" Hank asked
"Have you ever wondered about your choices and if you've made the right ones?" Cyndi asked
"Sometimes," Hank admitted
"You and I did a lot of our best work before I got my command that you drafted me to take. I hardly have any time for science. I guess it's the breaks of command. But I miss the lab and getting as they say my hands dirty. I don't know when the last time was I had the free time to get into the lab," Cyndi commented
"Cyndi I put you in that command as I felt you were being wasted in a class room. You belong in space and in command of that ship," Hank Said "I know it's not been easy but your where you belong. I also read the reports some time back about what you went through at the hands of your kidnappers. Is this second guessing of things a result of that?"
"Some of it, I nearly sent you my resignation. I have a son and a husband to consider and that really opened my eyes to things. Had my people not found me and rescued me all I could think of was what if I never saw Paul or my son again," Cyndi commented
"I'd not have accepted your resignation and you know it. You'd not be happy in the Palace and we both know it," Hank reminded her. Hank opened his desk drawer and handed her a stack of papers "Dig into this, it was given to me and I cannot make sense of it. Your the one with a PhD not me."
Cyndi took the stack of papers and thumbed through them "How soon do you need answers on this?"
"There's no time line, but it's right up your alley," Hank told her "Work on it when you have time and keep me posted. We've worked on things before,"
"Thank you Hank, I'll keep you posted, this looked interesting and yes right up my alley," Cyndi said getting to her feet. "I've taken up enough of your time. I've got some shopping to do."
"Hank got to his feet and walked over to her "We've been friends a long time. Give Paul my best and before your ship pulls out the three of us should meet for dinner."
"I'd like that and thank you Hank," Cyndi said as she shook his hand and headed out the papers safely tucked into a briefcase he'd given her. Cyndi couldn't wait to get to work on them.
