#49 Clearing the Skies

Posted on Mon Apr 1st, 2024 @ 5:27pm by Captain Rogue Green {Meji} & Lieutenant JG Ainkara "Kara" {Meji}

Mission: Hijacked
Location: various
Timeline: Current

ON:

Green had returned to the USS Euphrates, Ainkara with her, the two of them taking the seats to pilot as they shut the hatch. Ro had taken the pilot's seat with Kara to her right as co-pilot. "You ready for this?" Green asked while tapping keys, glancing over.

"I am, Ro." Kara said. Her own station was now set and they got the runabout lifting off with the repulsorlifts, and then after ascending a safe distance they activated the thrusters and drives so as not to bake the soil and foliage below. She could see that Green was flying map-of-the-earth, skimming just barely over the tress and terrain to remain off of sensor scans as best as possible. And, she was flying north to use the magnetic pole to aid in their subterfuge.

It took some time to fly so far north but as they reached the very spot for the north pole on this world they angled upwards and shot through the atmosphere. It took only a few minutes to start to see the blue sky thin to the darkness of space. Ro righted the craft to the plane of space and stopped, putting the craft at station keeping as she spun it around so they could see the orbital station from a distance. "There she is. Not what I expected." Even Green's mouth went a little slack as she looked out upon all the debris, with scattered chunks of superstructure, small craft, and bodies free floating in space.

Kara too was taken aback by the damage, amazed that the station was still able to maintain orbit. Which gave her an idea. "Master, if they are still keeping orbit that means they have power to do so. Whoever did this knew how to operate base systems and kept themselves from becoming just another meteor." She reached out with the Core and could sense anger along with a mass amount of fear and anxiety. "The entire population is still aboard!"

"I sense that, as well." Ro said. "We have to make sure that the station itself does not lose its ability to maintain orbit. All this debris will begin to fall through the atmosphere as time goes on. It seems our calling is being made as Meji. I have to ask myself if taking the base is essential or should we start moving these more massive chunks out of orbit and sling them towards the sun."

"Ro," Kara said. "We can't let the planet suffer any more. Between the tractor beam and the Core I think we can do this. Space is weightless so pushing sections of superstructure away from the planet with telekinesis should be fairly easy."

"A grand idea, Knight Kara," Green looked over at her with a smile. "Start pushing while I keep us shielded by the debris between us and the facility." All the large chunks of debris would skew any weapons locks, and make it hard to manually aim to shoot around it all at the right time.

Ainkara's eyes got a far away look to them as she stared straight ahead, seeming to stare at the objects ahead. What she had done was pulled the Core to herself and used it like an active sensor scan, her own Sense now focused on designating debris. Her hands came up and like a puppeteer she was waving them this way and that as she got chunks of twisted metal to start moving away from the planet. Once pushed with enough acceleration the pieces would then maintain that speed in space since there was nothing to obstruct them or deter them. All of them headed for the sun. "Easier than I thought it would be."

Ro gave a chuckle. "Glad to hear it." Green had been moving a few herself while piloting and flying around. Having been using the Core far longer than Kara she did not need to always use the somatic gestures to tell her brain what to move. They continued to do their duty in saving the planet from raining meteors of destruction, and as they did so, Ro ran through her mind the opportunity this presented for the Meji Order. She would take Kara and the Euphrates to Earth and meet with the Federation Council while taking a leave of absence from the Amandora, or any Starfleet duties. It seemed her destiny was calling.
