Tara after packing some tool and equipment made her way onto the Mercury, after finding out where on the massive star base the main science lab was Herculoid made her way there. Walking in a few minutes later Tara stepped over some equipment that engineers were installing. Spotting a young man in science blue Tara walked over. “I’m Lieutenant Herculoid from the Amandora, I’ve been sent over to assist getting science up and running. Can you tell me where I can find the chief or the person in charge?”
“That would be me, I’m Lieutenant Flagg, I was told there would be someone coming to help. And to be honest with you I welcome the help. I hope you don’t mind getting dirty.”
“I’m fine with it, just point me where you want me to be,” Tara said “And if we go around calling each other lieutenant is going to get old fast. My name is Tara.”
“Mine’s Derrick, let me show you were I need help at the most.”
Together they walked over to a console that was just secured to the wall. But needed to be hooked up and programmed.
“Seeing as how your going to be the one programming it why don’t I get it hooked up,” Tara suggested setting down the bag of tools she’d brought along.
“That sounds like a plan Tara,” Derrick said as the set to work.
Tara knelt in front of the console, pulled off the front cover and after scanning it with her tri-coder set to work hooking it up while Derrick worked on programming it.
After several hours Tara snapped the cover back on it, picked up a towel and whipped some dirt from her hands and brushed back several strands of hair that had gotten free.
“Well let’s see how it works,” Tara said as Derrick switched it on and everything came up
“Now for a test on it,” Derrick suggested
Together they tested, double and triple checked the console before admitting it was fully operational.
“I can’t thank you enough, this would have taken me several days. How about I take you out for a bite to eat?” Derrick asked “There is a good restaurant that is open here.”
“Let me get back to my quarters and get cleaned up then I’d be honored to have dinner with you,” Tara replied “Then tomorrow we’ll get an early start.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Derrick said “I’ll meet you at the air lock say two hours?”
“Two hours is fine, I’ll see you then,” Tara answered as she packed up her tools and headed back for the ship.
