Cyndi had requested that Commanders Emma and Benjamin Parker meet her in her ready room so they could finalize the away team before they beamed down to the planet.

Benjamin was coming from his ready room, his shift just ended on the bridge when he got the request. He walked over to the commodore's ready room. He tapped on the intercom just outside of her door waiting to be let in.

"Come in," Cyndi called as she turned from the window in her ready room that overlooked the planet they were in orbit of.

"Commander Benjamin Parker reporting is ordered." He called out as he snapped to the position of attention right in front of her desk. He could see her looking out the window but simple protocols clearly stated that you should report in front of the desk even though she wasn't at the desk. He could only imagine what was going through her mind.

"At ease commander," Cyndi said as she walked over to her desk. Please have a seat," Cyndi took her seat. This planet interests me, the scientist in me cannot wait to get down there. A planet with only plants and a few bodies of water are a scientist's dream."

Emma entered the office, after being given permission and came to attention before the two senior officers.

Lieutenant Commander Parker, reporting as ordered. She had run a little behind, having to change quickly as she was in a training session with her officers.

"At ease both of you," Cyndi said. "Please take seats and I'll tell you why I've called you here."

Benjamin took a seat near the Commodore. He waited patiently as he waited for Cyndi to tell him why she called them here.

Emma sat down beside Benjamin and her eyes went to the captain as well. She kept a neutral expression as she waited to hear what the meeting was about.

"Thank you both for coming, I wanted to get your thoughts on the planet below. A planet devoid of life except for various types of fauna, bodies of water and jungle growth," Cyndi said looking at her first officer and her chief of security. "I already know what your both going to say but I am planning on going down there too. I may be a Commodore and in command of this ship, but I am still a scientist and I cannot wait to explore that planet. I've never seen one where there is no life except plants, trees and bodies of water. You both were at the briefing what do you two think?"

“I am concerned about the possible reasons for life to have ended on the planet.” Emma said firmly. “I get everyone is excited but we need to be cautious and collect facts.”

"You're a flag officer, and we do not know why the planet life on this planet has ended. I suggest full bio suites and a security detachment on this mission." Benjamin said, not trying to argue with his Commanding Officer, instead offering her a compromise.

Cyndi thought a minute and re-read the science scans, "Sciences reported no radiation but if you both feel better about the away team beaming down in bio suits and scan the planet we'll do that."

"I would." Emma spoke up. "At least initially until we can rule out any danger to our away team."

"If we're wrong it was just a necessary precaution. But we really don't know what we're getting into down there. Something caused all the life from this planet to cease. I think it's worth taking a look in bio suits just to make sure." Benjamin started to explain being grateful that his commanding officer was willing to listen. It helps that she had a scientific background and she could understand the complexities of going in blindly to a situation you're not truly aware of all the potential complications.

"Then it's agreed the away team will beam down in bio suits until more scans can be taken. I'd like to take the following on the away team along with a full security detail, Doctors Rivers and Rogers, Lieutenants Sabbath, Herculoid, Fraizer, Lieutenant O'Neil, McKeon," Cyndi suggested.

"Who is going to be in charge of the ship." Emma inquired. She wanted to let her assistant know.

"Probably going to be me." Benjamin said with a twisted grin on his face. They didn't need both command level officers down on the planet and if something did happen they need at least one of them on the bridge. Typically it's supposed to be the commanding officer but in this case the scientist and Cyndi wanted to be on the away mission.

Cyndi thought a few minutes "Commander that's a great idea, you'll be in command while I'm off the ship."

"Captain Rivers to lead or be on your away team, Commodore?" Benjamin asked wanting clarity.

"Captain Rivers will not be going she'll stay aboard," Cyndi clarified

Cyndi sighed, it was clear her going on the away mission was not in favor of her XO and security chief."

Emma waited to reply. She wanted to let Benjamin reply to this sudden change in plans.

"I'll have Captain Rivers be the acting first officer while you're gone. I still think you should take a small team at first. Confirm that the planet is safe and then we can being down a larger contingent party under your leadership I'll join you then but I don't want 2/3 of our leadership potentially at risk. I know the scientist and you need to do this Commodore." Benjamin started to say, thinking to himself he really wish she wasn't going but there was no point trying to convince her not to go.

Cyndi nodded, "Who do you suggest we send for the small away team? Captain Rivers is a good choice for acting first officer.."

"Emma and Tara for sure. Maybe an Engineer or a medical officer." Ben suggested to Cyndi.

"Tara for sure, she has a minor in communication, Emma and for a doctor I'm all for sending the CMO Dr. Long. an engineer wouldn't be a bad idea. What do you two think?" Cyndi asked.

"I don't think they're necessary for this particular part of the mission. You're trying to discover if the planet is safe unless there's actually some kind of technology I'm not sure if an operation, doctor or an engineer isn't really necessary maybe a secondary security officer or another scientist." Benjamin's started to explain.

"Noted," Cyndi agreed as she looked to Emma "You and Lieutenant Herculoid beam down to the planet, Have Herculoid take detailed scans and see what if anything is down there that sensors have not picked up. You can take another security officer if you feel you need one. I want both of you in bio suits until we have the scans completed."

"Yes Commodore." Emma replied quietly. "I will contact her as soon as we are finished here."

"Yes Commodore." Benjamin said with a warm smile.

"Any questions or concerns?" Cyndi asked.

"I am good, Commodore." Emma replied all business.

"Unless Ben has something to add we;re good and I look forward Emma to the reports and reading you and Herculoid find on the surface." Cyndi said

"I'm good, let's hope you don't find anything down there." Benjamin said hoping that he wouldn't regret his decision to let his commanding officer go down to the planet before him and verify that the planet was safe.

Emma smiled. "Or if we do it will make our scientists whole day." She didn't anticipate trouble but she would be ready.

"Then I think we're done here. Emma get with Lieutenant Herculoid and beam down to the planet in bio suits and see what I'm getting us into. Ben get with Captain Rivers and let her know she'll be acting first officer while I'm off the ship and you'll be in command," Cyndi said
