Paul walked just behind and to the right of the Commodore as they headed down one of the many corridors aboard the Amandora.
Paul clutched his trusted padd in hand, ready to take notes, book appointments, cancel appointments, set reminders and any other way he could be of help to such a busy individual as the Commodore was.
Cyndi led the way to her ready room and waited for Paul to enter before taking a seat at her desk. As usual there was a stack of reports to be read and another file that had to be sent to headquaters. "I don't know about you but it seems like work is always piling up." Cyndi picked up the stack of PADDS that needed to be sent to headquaters. "Can you get these sent out" They're due in a couple days."
Paul glanced at the stack of reports. " It would appear to be the case. Ma'am." He took the stack of padds from her. " Absolutely. I will have them sent forthwith. Can I assist you with anything else?" Paul asked. I preferred to be busy. His favourite expression was 'better busy than bored '
"I'm a horrible speller, my husband is always telling me I should use spell check. I reminded him that Standard is not my native language and sometimes I forget and do reports in Klavorian." Cyndi said
" Ah, I had noticed the occasional shift to Klavorian. I have managed to ensure your reports are spell checked etc. ma'am. Its not a trouble."
"Thank you," Cyndi replied "You'd think as long as I've been in Starfleet, climbed the ranks to get to where I am that I'd know better than to do my reports in my native language. It usually happens when I've been in touch with my home planet. I heard from my mum the other day."
" Indeed I guess old habits tend to linger with us." He smiled "How is your mother, ma'am? I trust she is well."
"She's fine as is my dad, both wish my husband kids and i could visit more. But they both understand my life for now is Starfleet," Cyndi replied. "I also reminded both of them that my being in Starfleet is their idea not mine. But I love it and am not ready to leave Starfleet."
" I wouldn't have thought so. You have such a dedication to Starfleet which is inspiring to many, including myself, who's own career journey has only just begun." Paul commented.
"Thank you, I also reminded them that had I not joined Starfleet I'd not have my husband Paul and our two kids," Cyndi said, "I took a couple years away from a ship assignment and taught science at Starfleet, But my heart wasn't in it and I belong in space, The time will come when I'll have to return to Klavor, but for now I'm content to command a ship. I have no desire to sit at a desk."
" I hope to visit many places, including Klavor. I've travelled considerably on earth and now it's time I explored the Alpha Quadrant."
"I can arrange a visit to Klavor in the future for shore leave. There is a lot to see and do there. One feature of the planet I never tire of is the rings and how they glow at sunrise and sunset and shine in between." Cyndi commented
" Oh my, that sounds incredible. I best add seeing that onto my bucket list. It's getting a little long at the moment. I really ought to tick a few off. I guess, being a Commodore with a long career in Starfleet, you have had the privilege of visiting many different places?"
"Klavor is beautiful, as for the places I've been. I've been to so many different planets and cultures it's not worth mentioning. I was a junior science officer when the ship I was assigned to went to aid a civilisation. The chief of one of the tribes gave several of us a gift of appreciation. Mine was at the time a one-foot snake. I was terrified of it. It would have been rude to decline it. So I learned to like it. It's now ten feet long and is in my quarters aboard ship, as my parents didn't want it in the Palace gardens. Dad said it was mine and needed to be with me," Cyndi said, "It was more an order than a request."
"Cool, I once had a pet Mexican Red Knee Tarantula, called Peaches, when I was in my teens," Paul commented.
"Now that would scare the daylights out of me, what happened to it?" Cyndi asked
" She's still around. Females live between 25 to 30 years. My brother, Martin looks after her for me."
"Pets are permitted on the ship so if you ever want her aboard you can," Cyndi said.
" Hmm. I hadn't considered doing that, to be honest. I will think about it, especially the safety concerns. Although none venomous, her bite really hurts."
"Same with my snake, he's only in my quarters and when I do let him out of his tank I make sure he cannot get out."Cyndi commented.
" Of course. I will consider it. My brother has gotten attached to Peaches. So he may not let me bring her aboard."
"And if he isn't wanting to give her up Star Base Danvers does have a pet shop there." Cyndi commented.
"Good to know. I will find out what he says."
"Keep me posted," Cyndi asked
"Yes ma'am. Can I help you with anything else?"
"Not that I can think of," Cyndi replied.
" In that case, I will get these reports checked and sent out. If you do require my assistance, please let me know. Am I ok to depart, Ma'am?"
"Cyndi nodded "Your free to go,"
"Thank you." Paul left her office.
