Mission: Star Base Mercury
Location: CO's quarters
Timeline: current

ON:

Having been talking about it for days, Kahn and Bjorgo finally decided to take their interests to the Commodore. Moving together, Liza in her Command red and Tore in his Science blue, they arrived at the door in question. "Go ahead," said Bjorgo, grinning and motioning towards the chime for the Commodore's Ready Room.

"Pfft, this was your idea, first. You do it." Replied Kahn.

Tore chuckled as he reached out. "Pussy," he said in a teasing, cynical tone.

Liza was just as quick to respond. "In this host, yes."

He hit the chime and they waited, both looking casual yet anxious. After all, this was a commodore.

Cyndi having returned from the star base after doing some shopping had gone to her quarters to check on reports but had not put her uniform on. She was dressed in a pair of skinny jeans and a black tank top. "Enter!" she called out.

Both officers entered, with Bjorgo allowing Kahn to go first. No matter what he was always a gentleman. They came inside, standing behind the two guest chairs as they looked to their CO. Bjorgo spoke first. "Commodore, we have a request. Here we are, taking care of Mercury, yet this entire star system needs to be mapped and scanned. With the arrival of my ACMO it affords me the chance to be a science officer, not a doctor..."

Liza cut in, knowing Tore might take a while to get to the point. "...And we would like to take a warp shuttle, or Delta Flyer, and go out and begin to explore. This way Mercury won't be surprised by the unknown, sir."

"Please have seats," Cyndi said "I do like your idea, it does need to be mapped out. What I would request of the two of you is the fourth planet in the system is a gas giant but it has a moon that is being used to grow food on. I'd like you to check it out. Doctor what do you think of Doctor Long?"

The two officers took the offered chairs. Tore answered the Commodore's query. "Doctor Long is a fine medical officer. Her record speaks for itself and we seem to get along."

Liza was wondering how a request for an away mission turned to Sickbay, but waited for them to hash it out.

"Glad to hear it, as per your request your cleared to take a warp shuttle, all I ask is you keep in touch with the ship and above all remember the prime directive. This sector of space is unexplored and we don't know what could be out there," Cyndi replied.

"The Prime Directive doesn't apply, Commodore." Kahn explained. "This system was not inhabited before Mercury showed up, so any and all people living here got here through faster-than-light travel. I would never breach the PD, but as Security Chief, I checked out the sector."

Bjorgo gave a shrug, motioning kinda towards Liza as he agreed with what she said. "We'll be on our toes, Cyndi."

"That's all I ask even though scans may reveal no life in the system does not mean something can't be alive out there. You both don't know how much I want to go. The scientist in me is calling to explore, perhaps I'll get the chance. Just be careful," Cyndi said.

Kahn looked at Cyndi, tilting her head. "I'm always careful, Commodore. There's me, and this guy," she pointed at her abdomen, smiling. "You have an XO for a reason, Commodore. Amandora isn't doing anything overly important. If your XO can't handle it, why is he XO? But, I get it. When I commanded the USS Sovereign, I dealt with the same BS."

Bjorgo got to his feet. "We'll head out, Commodore. I don't want Liza to blow herself out," he chuckled.

"In your dreams," said Kahn as she too stood up.

"If only," responded Tore, the humor and sarcasm apparent. "We'll do you proud, Cyndi."

Kahn added a bow from the neck. "That we will, Sir."

Cyndi stood as well "Your right and I know you will. I do have my own shuttle aboard, a gift from my parents. Good luck out there and who knows you may see me out there."

Kahn wanted to hug the both of them but, held back. She love-love-loved away missions, especially shuttles and runabouts. "Maybe we'll do our first scans, then come back and get you, Sir. Anyway, I'll go prep the shuttle." She left the Ready Room quickly.

"Kahn may be 700 years old, but Kelliza is still a young, exuberant woman. I'll look after her, Commodore. Thank you for this." He too turned and walked out, with less exuberance than his comrade.
