Back in Engineering, Damien was bored. He had just finished setting up various contingency programs for the computers and completed an update process for the central computer core. These were maintenance intervals that he had to complete and sign off and then send back to Starfleet for periodic vessel reports.
The Amandora was currently in fantastic shape as the Warp Core was operating at an efficiency of 98.3% of deuterium to lose ratio. That was the co-efficiency factor of how well a vessel's systems performed from the Engineering fluidic transfer of the matter to anti-matter achieving full EPS support. Many different factors affected this co-efficiency within the fleet, such as vessel age, configuration, usage, leignth of mission duty, and how well the ship's engineer had experience in the core's operations management.
Given all considerations aside, most starships vessels had operated around a core efficiency ratio of 96.6%, a considerably high threshold as Starfleet had only demanded the best out of its engineers and starships, knowing full well that each ship had operational limits and design factors. Starfleet Engineering had consistently argued that the co-efficiency levels were somewhat inflated and that actual core efficiency is in the various deuterium byproduct levels associated.
Damien was completed in his work and was standing around the pool table with Lt. Jg. Horton and Ensign Humphreys. Both of them were tried and tested perfectionists within Saunder's engineering Alpha Shift team.
As usual, their conversations when bored had turned from current crew gossip to the different kinds of foods they were currently trying, eating, or planning to eat.
"I don't know. If you ask me. I enjoy the good ol' Classic Whopper. If you ever had tried one back on Earth, the replicated licensed format is not as good." Saunders shrugged. Man, he was hungry, and all this talk about food had them salivating.
"Nah, Nah. You have to have the original baconator from Wendys. A classic earth franchise. Bar none, the creator of the Baconater, Mr. Wendy, was a great man!" Humphreys interjected.
"Well, since you all haven't asked me yet. No to the pickles. I can't stand pickles on my burger. Just no!" Clinton gave a disgusted face, and reheating McDonald's French fries on high in the replimat for two minutes after having them cold for three days sounds so disgusting, Eva. I'm sorry. That's not going to happen." Horton threw his hands up and then placed them back down on the pool table.
"Hey, Hunny!" Humphrey shook her head. "Don't knock it until you've tried it. The actual glaze of the fries at a second time cooking, having waited three days in refrigeration. The conglomeration of the fry grease re-cooks into the crust, and it is one savvy taste palate here!" She shook her head and rolled her eyes.
"That actual sounds on heart attack lane if you ask me!" Saunders raised a brow. "Disgusting!" He then stated. "OK, how about entres. What is the best thing you have had at, say a Pizza Hut?"
"I think the franchise license for Federation Starship replicators went bankrupt againnnnnn!" Humphreys threw up her hands. "I mean, if you tried the double stuff crust pizza, and then the kind with the hot dogs in the crust, that was insane land! I could eat that for breakfast!"
"I also know what you eat for breakfast!" Shot Clinton a glance and a cheeky grin.
"Oh! And just what the hell is that smart ass!" Humphreys had crossed her arms and twisted and began to giggle.
"What? Are we talking about food here still?" Saunders furrowed his brow and then took a drink from his coffee mug.
"No!" Humphreys had laughed and blushed.
"Ensign Meyers! I mean, I told you about it, didn't I?" Clinton crossed his arms in return and glanced over at Saunders.
"Told me what? You hadn't told me anything?" Saunders questioned.
"WELLLLLLL…" Clinton began as he eyed Humphreys.
"OMG! DON'T YOU EVEN!" She shot him a look.
"This one time. A certain Lt. JG Engineer was going to Humphrey's quarters to see if she had wanted to go for lunch on their certain day off… And…."
"Oh, I AM SO GOING to KILL you, CLINTON!" Humphreys mauled in anger.
"I'm dying here! What!?" Saunders already thought he had known.
"Humphreys here, our esteemed engineer was eating cake while, also ahem! In bed with a certain Ensign Miller!!! They had two things at once!" He blurted out.
"OMG. Why did I not think that would not happen with you, Humphreys?" Saunders chortled and laughed.
"That is the LAST time I bring in Mississippi Mud Pies for all of you!!!! OMGGGG" She blushed, and faux angered, but loved the attention to her personal life.
"Omg, this is too much. I'm going to check in on my office messages. You two have the Pool Table! And…. Keep it free of food, and erm, other things!" He shot Humphreys a knowing glance that said it all.
"I'm oOoOO oOoOO not going to live this down, am I?!" Eva shot faux anger.
"No, your NOT Ensign! But you made my day Clinton!" He had laughed as he entered his Engineering Office.
