Saunders was sitting in his quarters. He was finishing up sending his latest message back home to his parents, Daniel and Alice Saunders, who were both back home on Earth. Saunders was the youngest El-Aurian besides his Brother Brian Saunders, who was also in Starfleet. Brian had just entered after finding out he no longer enjoyed being employed in local shipping freight lanes.
"So, Mom. If you speak to Brian again." Damien had rubbed his forehead and wanted to gouge his eyes out. "This is the third time your Son Brian has messaged me directly regarding the Federation Entrance Exam, wanting to know just the type of questions and amount of "Studying" he should do." He had rolled his eyes. "In a while, I can't simply message your Son the Answers. It is not as simple as stating such and such is on the exam. It depends on what pre-declaration of the stream you are entering, and exactly what kind of race you are, and exactly what prior extensive experience one carries." He paused.
Damien had begun to dig into his box of cookies and cream, ice cream that Eva Humphreys, his Engineering Assistant, and Desert extrodanair, had dropped him off to eat. He couldn't help but accept the unhealthy offering of dessert goodness.
"However, if Brian would want to enlighten me via subspace, he knows my coms channel sigs, and he is now pouting to you both that I had turned down his invitation to cheating on the exam." He rolled his eyes as he then scopped into the ice cream and gorging.
"Secondly, the local Federation representative in our Earth Riding for Toronto will unlikely be able to help Brian with the entrance exam himself. I believe it would do Brian more harm to reach out to the federation, asking them for help for him with the test. What does he think he is? An Admiral's Son?!" He gruffed. "Honestly, I am getting too old for his shit. He's how old now, and he is still going down the creek of life without a paddle?!"
Just then, Damiens AI Golden Retriever Mack had shot Damien a grunt and a look from his face on the floor. "AWWWwwww MACK! Do you want a tub of Ice Cream, buddy?! Here…" Damien had then placed half of the ice cream dessert onto a plate and then put it on the floor by Mack. Mack eagerly ate the helping that Damien had afforded him.
"I know!!! I knoowwww!!! Eva is the best, isn't she!" He had grinned. Mack loved the desert. "Wait! NO! Don't eat that! STOP! STOP!" Damien just as soon reached back down again and then scooped up the plate to the now whining, confused Golden Retriever who was licking his lips.
"That will probably give you the runs! I don't need er…. Dog barf on these carpets!" He shook his head. "What was I thinking?!" He then set the plate on his desk and then turned to the open com channel.
"Well, Hun, if it is an AI dog, then shouldn't it be able to barf on those carpets?!" She scoffed. "I tell you, the federation goes down mediocre designers to pick that color it is AWEFUL… If I were there, I would pick out a classic line from the local Laura Ashley we have and make maybe a few…" His mother had begun to rant again about the décor of her Son's Federation quarters, or rather lack of it.
"OH CRAP!" He then faked. "MOM. There is someone at the door. I have to go. It might have to do with Engineering…"
"OK! Well. WE LOV-"He then cut off the com.
"OMG. I can only take so much of them. Millions of miles away, and I still can't stand to hear them?! What the hell is wrong with me." He leaned back into his chair, bored.
Mack then sat back down. Suddenly, Damien heard a certain gurgling coming up, and then the dog had begun to barf on the carpet up some of the ice cream he had been given.
"Oh. WONDERFUL! JUST AWESOME. Mack… Man… I'm sorry.." He then reached down and comforted the Retriever while he had barfed up.
