Posted on Thu Dec 10th, 2020 @ 4:32am by Lieutenant JG Dimitri Pronichev & Commodore Cyndi Song

Mission: Star Base Mercury
Location: Ready Room
Timeline: Current

ON:

Cyndi had gone to her ready room after receiving word her husband was calling her. A report had also come in that a new officer had arrived and would be arriving to meet with her soon.

Dimitri had transferred only a few hours prior and was still getting his bearings. His personal bags were taken to his quarters, and he was instructed by the petty officer on duty that he was expected in the Commodore's ready room. He had yet to meet with his new commanding officer and headed there quickly, his transfer padd still in his hand. He rang her door and was cleared to enter. Upon entering he stood to attention. "Lieutenant Junior Grade Dimitri Pronichev, reporting, Sir."

"Paul ship's business I know you remember that well, I'll call again soon," Cyndi said closing the link and turning her attention to her new officer. "Welcome aboard, I heard we were getting a new officer, at ease and have a seat. I trust you have your transfer orders for me."

Pronichev relaxed and handed the Commodore his orders, placing the padd on her desk in front of her. "Yes, Sir. I just transferred from the USS Fort Jackson yesterday. It's good to meet you, Sir"

Cyndi picked up the PADD and read the orders and nodded, setting it aside "Tell me why the transfer? Not that I'm not glad to have you because I am. The Fort Jackson is a fine ship."

The Lieutenant nodded. "A fine ship indeed. The ship was due for a refit and most of the security department was discharged from the ship as a result. They mostly kept senior officers and specialists. Starfleet was quick to reassign me, however." He paused and pulled his chin up and straightened his back. "But I'm glad to be here, Sir. This is my first assignment as a Master-at-arms."

"You're badly needed as well," Cyndi said "I've never had a Master-At-Arms on the ship before. The ship carries marines and fighters. I trust that won't be a problem? The only reason I brought it up as there are some security officers who don't see the need for marines. No one on this ship feels that way. But I wanted to put it out there."

"Not a problem at all, Sir. I've met some fine marines in my time in Starfleet, many of who come from security or tactical positions. They do their job, I do mine. Security and the marines work together often, and I see no reason for discord."

"That's music to my ears," Cyndi replied, "Do you have any questions for me?"

"On a lot of ships Master-at-arms in an enlisted rate," Pronichev responded. "Any reason Starfleet sent a Lieutenant?"

Cyndi smiled and shook her head "I've long ago stopped trying to figure Starfleet out. The only thing I can think of is they thought a lieutenant would be a better fit for a master at arms."

Pronichev nodded. "How has security been aboard the ship? Any issues with anything in that regard?"

"Security is excellent, Lieutenant Kahn is security chief and she runs a tight department," Cyndi replied

"Good, good. I'll be reporting to Kahn soon, do you have anything for me, Sir?" Pronichev asked. He had yet to meet Kahn but had heard good things, he had only good things to say about his Chiefs of Security in the past.

"Not at present, I do have your quarter assignment for you," Cyndi said sliding a PADD over to him "That's the temporary password, you'll of course want to change it. Get used to the layout of the ship. If you should get lost just ask the computer and it will guide you. I admit I got lost a time or two. I'm used to teaching at the academy or being on a much smaller ship."

"I'll keep that in mind, Sir. Thank you." he picked up the PADD and glanced at it for a few seconds, beofre looking up at Song. "I'm looking forward to serving under you, Commodore." He extended his hand, looking her in the eye.

Cyndi got to her feet and took his hand making eye contact with him "I look forward to serving with you as well."

Pronichev stood to attention, "Thank you, goodnight Sir." He turned on his heels and exited the ready room, still clutching the padd in his hand containing his assignmetns and passwords, glancing through it as he walked. He entered the turbolift and headed for his new quarters, and would report to duty the next day.
