Amethyst sat in one of the chairs usually used by those visiting her office, a pile of PADDs on the coffee table in front of her. She was catching up on psych evaluations starting with the newer members of the Amandora crew. She was expecting one Dmitri Pronichev, the ship’s new Master at Arms. They hadn’t met at all yet so this would be a first time meeting for them both.
When the chime rang Amethyst called for Dmitri to enter smiling warmly. “Lieutenant Pronichev, please come in and make yourself at home.”
Dimitri Pronichev made his way to the Counselor's office for his physiatrics evaluation, as was protocol when transferring ships. Most of the time they didn't take long, and he was looking forward to meeting the Counselor. Pronichev entered, and nodded to Amethyst as he did so. "Counselor," He extended his hand. "Good to meet you." He took a seat opposite her and turned to completely face her.
Amethyst smiled and politely accepted the handshake before taking her seat again. “So how are you settling in aboard the Amandora?”
Pronichev nodded. "Quite well. The crew is professional and efficient, and my department heads are great officers. I'm looking forward to working under them. The quarters aboard a Galaxy-class are nice as well, certainly nicer than I'm used to."
“Oh yes” Amethyst nodded. “The Galaxy Class is a luxury ship when it comes to quarters. I have to admit that the Galaxy Class is one of my favourite starships.” She picked up a PADD. “So ... looking at your personnel file I honestly don’t see anything to be concerned about. You’ve got shining commendations on record from previous CO’s. So tell me how you cope when things don’t go well?”
"I normally just dig into my work, try and distract myself. I work out when I can, I meditate a lot as well." Pronichev sat up a bit. "Mediation is a big part of my life."
Amethyst nodded. “You’re a quarter Vulcan, does your meditation stem from that part of your heritage or simply because you find meditation helpful?”
"I'd definitely say a bit of both. Growing up it was always taught to me as a means to cope but I also study different forms of meditation in my own time, both Vulcan and non-Vulcan styles. However, it probably wouldn't have been introduced to me when it was if I weren't part Vulcan," Pronichev pondered.
Amethyst nodded. “Well if you find it helps then that’s what matters. To be honest I see nothing in your file and I’ve heard nothing here that concerns me.” She smiled warmly. “Do you have any questions that you’d like to ask?”
Pronichev nodded again. "Nothing yet, but if I have anything I won't hesitate to reach out."
“Excellant” Aurora smiled warmly. “In that case I’ll update your file with your evaluation pass. It’s been nice meeting you Dimitri.”
"You as well, Counselor. I appreciate you and your time." He shook her hand and left the room to leave Amethyst to her work, heading to his quarters.
