Post 10 - Can we talk?

Mission: Shake Down Cruise
Location: Captain’s Quarters

Having spoken to Will and revealed the shock news about his son Amethyst had spent time mulling things over in her head. She didn’t have anyone to talk to but she had gotten along well with Captain Song. Making her way to Song’s Quarters Amethyst paused by the door and pressed the chime hoping she wouldn’t mind her stopping by.

Cyndi picked up her snake and secured him in his tank, secured it and walked to the door. Palming the door sensor.

“Captain” Amethyst smiled warmly. “May I talk to you?”

"Of course," Cyndi said stepping back to let her in "Please call me Cyndi,"

Walking inside Amethyst smiled as she turned to look at Cyndi. “Thank you Cyndi. I wouldn’t normally bother my CO with something personal but I have no one else here to talk to about it.”

"Your not bothering me at all. Please have a seat and tell me what brings you here besides your feet," Cyndi said laughing

“Actually it concerns your XO. Will and I are...old flames. It makes it more complicated that we have a five year old Son that Will knew nothing about until I saw him earlier.”

"That can complicate things How did he take the news?" Cyndi asked

“Pretty well considering” Amethyst sighed. “Kal will be coming onboard with his nanny this evening, Will wants to meet him which isn’t a problem.”

"Will you need larger quarters?" Cyndi asked "As for Will take things slow as this is no doubt a big shock to him and he'll need time to process what you've told him," Cyndi commented.

Amethyst nodded. “I will, and I’d like to request family quarters please. That would give me a separate room for Kal. I’d also like to request quarters for Kal’s Nanny Christina, she’s been with me for the last four years. She’s a fully qualified child career and teacher so she would come in useful onboard for those families with children.”

"I'll get family quarters ready for you," Cyndi assured her "As for the nanny there are children aboard, I'm not sure how many yet but I may need someone to do teaching if she feels comfortable doing that."

“I don’t think she’ll mind, she’s a wonder with children. Kal absolutely adores her!” Amethyst smiled. “I trust her with my son’s life and I’d be happy to reassure other families as well. I’ll speak to her when she comes onboard with Kal later today.”

"That would be wonderful," Cyndi said "Now back to you and the first officer. I have no problems with the crew and officers being involved as long as it doesn't interfere with your jobs. As you know I'm married and the mother of an active ten year old. Should my husband and son join me my command won't suffer."

“We’ve worked together before Ma’am...sorry Cyndi.” Amethyst grinned. “We’re both professionals and I wouldn’t risk interfering with Will’s duties. During work hours he’s my senior officer.”

"I have no doubt of that," Cyndi replied "I'm glad you were honest and upfront with me the minute the two of you talked. Your both fine officers and I look forward to meeting your son. What are his interests?"

“Everything a little boy loves!” Amethyst smiled. “Starships, shuttles, old Earth cars and vehicles, toys and he loves to read!”

"My husband has a vintage car on Earth. It's one that the car company Ford had out years and years ago called an Edsel. They were not very popular but Paul found one and is in the process of restoring it. Why I don't know but he has it. He also has a motor-cycle. As soon as I finish unpacking I have some books he'd we welcome to read," Cyndi offered

“That would be wonderful, thank you!” Amethyst grinned. “Anyway I guess I should be getting ready. May I move into family quarters prior to Kal’s arrival? I’d like him to see he has his own room.”

Cyndi opened her lap top, logged and made a few adjustments and closed it. Picking up a PADD she jotted down the new quarter assignment and handed it to her "Here is your new quarter assignment. Feel free to move in when your ready."

Amethyst stood and politely took the PADD “I will and thanks again. It’s been nice having someone to talk to.”

"My door is always open, feel free to stop by anytime," Cyndi said

“I will, thank you” Amethyst started to head for the door. “Oh Cyndi, maybe you’d like to stop by for dinner with Kal and I one night? I’m sure he’d love to meet the Captain of the ship!”

"I'd love to, thank you," Cyndi replied following her to the door.

“Excellent!” Amethyst grinned. “How’s about tomorrow night? It’ll give me time to get our quarters organized.”

"Tomorrow night is fine," Cyndi said smiling "I look forward to it. Just let me know what time."

“Err...say 1900 hrs. I like to have Kal in bed by 2100 so it gives us time to entertain. I’ll see you then.” With that Amethyst headed on her way, she had to move her boxes to family quarters and get organized.
