With recent events and the death of one of their own under less than easy circumstances, Amethyst had arranged an appointment to talk over events with a Major Hurd. She’d been unconscious herself at the time so she had no idea of what had truly happened with Kordell. As the door chime rang she looked up. “Come in”

Hurd walked in, look uncomfortable, and stood there.

“Major” Amethyst smiled warmly. “Please come in and make yourself comfortable. The replicator is available for use if you’d like anything.”

"I'm ok, let's get this over with".

Amethyst nodded. “I understand your not being comfortable with this Major. We both had encounters with Kordell that we’d like to forget, but as ship’s Counsellor I have to speak with you regarding what occurred. I heard what happened with Christina, she and I have been friends since before my son was born. She cane aboard as a nanny for Kal before being offered a Teacher position.”

Amethyst picked up a PADD. “Can you tell me what really happened?”

"Its simple, once I found out he", he spat with venom in his voice, "Had taken her I reacted." "I hunted him down and killed him like a animal, which he deserved."

Amethyst nodded she could understand only too well how Hurd felt, Christina was a close friend. “I understand your feelings only too well ... if something happened to my loved one I’d want revenge too.” She put the PADD down. “Did you, or did you not, try to talk Kordell into giving himself up?”

"I gave him one, and only one warning", Hurd said. "After that it was his blood staining the deck." "I have no remorse about getting rid of him, he was a danger, and dangers need to be ended."

Amethyst nodded. “Answer me one question, what if whatever affected Kordell had affected Christina. What if you had to hunt her, would you have ended her because she was a danger? Or anyone else?”

His face turning red, he asked,"What kind of damn question is that?". "Are you trying to imply I'm some kind cold, remorseless monster of a murderer?"

Amethyst shook her head. “No, of course not. I’m sorry, I just needed to judge your response that’s all. I know how much you love her. In-fact I heard a rumour that the two of you got married?”

"Its not a rumor", Hurd replied, "We did".

Amethyst smiled warmly. “Congratulations! Major it’s my job to assess your fitness for duty. If the Klingons decide to push this then I’d be the one assessing you for trial. That’s not something I’d like to do. You did what you decided you had to do, that I understand. However your personal feelings, even after he harmed Christina, shouldn’t have influenced your judgement.”

"They didn't", He replied coldly. "And as for the Klingons, let them push it, I'm not afraid of them in the slightest".

Amethyst nodded “That much I can sense.” She offered a smile. “So how is married life treating you? Do the two of you plan on having a family?”

"Its going good", He said. Pausing for a moment he continued, "On the family thing, you bet".

Amethyst smiled warmly. “That’s good to hear, I’m happy for both of you. If there’s ever anything either of you need you only have to ask.” She looked at her PADD. “Unless there’s anything you want to talk about I’ll let you get back to your duties.”

"Nope,I'm good to go", Hurd, standing and walking out the door.

Amethyst could only sit bemused as Hurd headed straight out of the door. She could see she was going to have a difficult patient in Hurd.
