Will exited the bridge muffled that the Commodore had insisted he tell Lt Herculoid that she would not be coming with him on this away mission . He didn't know why he had asked Lt Kees to join but given her job was architecture and archeology his instincts had over taken his political correctness. But who was he fooling that had never been his strong suit.

Tara was scanning Planet Savai in preparation for the coming away team. The chance to explore a new planet was something every scientist looked forward too.

" Lt Herculoid busy as always. I need to ask you about the away team down to Savai. The team is limited and I need to know how you feel about allowing Lt Kees, the new archaeologist , take your spot? Commodore Song is taking the ship to another sector to answer a distress call from the Iwa Jima, a ship lost during the Dominion war. You might be needed there more." Will explained.

"Taking my place? Lieutenant Kees my new officer? Commander with all due respect she's not ready, she's just transferred aboard and I've only met with her once," Tara said "Did she ask for this as I cautiolned her about going over my head to you, the commodore or the major."

Will paused and then replied.

" No it was my idea to have her join us. I mentioned this to the Commodore, who then insist the party be minimal. If you feel she is not ready then I will inform the Commodore and the Lieutenant of your concerns. This is not personal Tara. We have two separate situations where you are going to be needed. The Iwa Jima response or a first contact. I want both of you to come but if you feel the young Lieutenant is not ready then we can wait. " Will replied.

"What is the reason you want her on this first contact away team?" Tara asked.

" She is not you but her background in architecture and archaeology might help us to understand these beings better. I wanted her to join you but the Commodore asked me to keep the party to a minimal. Tara I wanted to ask you before committing to letting her come," Will replied.

"It seems commander the decision has already been made, and just because she has a background in architecture and archaeology are you sure this is the right assignment for her? But regardless it will be a good learning experience for her. I was looking forward to this."

" Lieutenant I can with draw my request? In the future I will not interfere with your department. I am sorry for doing so this time. ," Will apologized.

"Commander you have every right to use anyone on the ship for your away team, Lieutenant Kees can use this as a learning experience and I'll look forward to reading her report," Tara replied "I've still got a lot of sensor data from my probe to go over so you taking Lieutenant Kees give me the chance to dig deeper into the data from the probe."

Will nodded and then moved to take his seat at the con, awaiting the Commodores arrival.
