Post Number 19 Concerns

Mission:
Planet Savai
Location: Captain’s Ready Room
Timeline: Current
Greg sighed slightly as he glanced up at the ceiling of his office before deciding to just get it over with. Keying in a request for the Commodore’s location he found her in her ready room. Making his way up to the bridge with a slight nod to the duty officer he pressed the chime.
"Enter," Cyndi called out, she was looking out at the planet they were in orbit of and the scientist in her was wanting to go explore it.
“Ma’am,” he said with a nod of his head stepping inside the room, “I was hoping to talk briefly with you about the change to our mission.”
Turning from the window "Of course lieutenant, please have a seat," Cyndi said indicating the chairs in front of her desk as she walked over and took a seat at her desk.
“I am concerned with the timing of the recent discovery,” Greg said taking a seat. “It also strikes the right tone for the Major, he’s spent his entire career with the Fleet Marines, his time is spent on starships and it’s a common held belief that for the future the Marines must man and crew their own ships. I’ve served my time with Expeditionary units, we look at the Iwo Jima as a folly. When she was destroyed her Marine division was still on the deck, the Sovereign is the most powerful starship Starfleet produces when she arrived she was placed straight into the battle line no Starfleet commander was going to allow her to leave the battle line and leave that gap in his order of battle. The timing makes the point between my shoulder blades itch. The Amandora can only be in one place at a time but we must divide our forces between two separate objectives.”
"I can;t agree more, I'm going to have Commander Raymond take his away team via shuttle to the planet Savai and I'll take the ship to the Iwo Jima and see what we find there. This ship is fully armed and loaded for bear. She as you know carries a full fighter wing commanded by a 21 year old. Answers are needed and we need to find them," Cyndi replied.
Greg snorted slightly, “You mean a fresh faced officer out of the Academy, with the innocent twinkle in her eye. I would be careful about who goes aboard the Iwo Jima unless someone else has removed the bodies we could find a lot of corpses on that ship. I’ve seen that twinkle leave the eye of many a young officer and Marine after a bloody drop into hell pretty sure this one is going to rank right up there.”
"I understand your concerns but don't sell Rivers short and don't let her age influence this. She's been in several battles, according to General Long. But if it will make you feel better talk to Rivers and see what you think. If you feel she's too young to go then that's your call. But I'm sure she's seen dead bodies before," Cyndi said.
“That would be the Major’s call more then mine, he’s still the Marine CO. I will speak with Rivers, before making any recommendations to the Major.” Greg gave a shake of his head, “Have you had a chance to speak to the Major about his behavior during the briefing? I’m not asking for details but in my interaction with him he strikes me as far too straight forward and blunt.”
"I was planning on it but then the Iwo Jima came up. But I do plan to speak to him along with Doctor Bjorgo as well. There was no excuse for either of them behaving the way they did," Cyndi replied "As for Rivers she may be a fighter pilot but she still answers to the major and you,"
“No ma’am, his behavior was unacceptable by a Marine officer,” Greg said, “I would try to speak with him before the Iwo Jima operation. If you would excuse me, I’ve got some preparing to do and speaking to the senior NCOs make sure everyone is a prepared as can be for what we might find over there. I’ll also make sure to speak to Lt Rivers.”
"And I'll speak to the major, thank you," Cyndi replied getting to her feet. "I'll head there in a few minutes."
