With Will off ship Amethyst made her way to the school to see how Kal was getting on, she’d had no complaints from Christina or any of the school teachers but it didn’t hurt to drop in every now and then. She also needed an update on how the children were settling in, as her duties as ships counsellor included helping the younger ones aboard too.

Arriving at the nursery and school she peered inside smiling as she was waved in by Mrs Harper, “Counsellor please come on in.”

Amethyst grinned as she was greeted not just by Kal but by the handful of other children in his class. “Looks like you’re all having fun.”

Kal nodded. “Come and see Mummy” he took her hand and lead her to a painting he was artistically doing.

Looking at the painting the stick figures made her smile. “Wow! That’s an excellent painting Kal I wish I was as good at painting as you are!”

“This is you Mummy” he pointed to a figure with long hair, “Thats daddy, and there’s Flora!”

“He’s quote the artist Lieutenant” Mrs Harper smiled. “He’s always asking to paint or draw.”

“How is he doing in everything else?” Amethyst looked at Harper curiously.

“Well he’s a little reluctant when it comes to reading with me but when he does read he’s very good. He’s just a little reserved at times, but then aren’t all children from time to time?”

Amethyst nodded. “Well we can keep up with Kal’s reading at home that’s not a problem.”

She gave Kal a quick kiss before she headed through to the nursery to check on Flora. She normally dropped by during the day to make sure all was okay.

“Hey you” She smiled as she found Flora laying in a playpen staring up at a rather entertaining jungle gym. She grinned as she made the toys make noises watching Flora’s face as she studied the toys.

“Amethyst, I wasn’t expecting you yet is everything alright?” Miss Cole smiled as she approached Anethyst.

“Fine” Amethyst smiled. “Will is off ship so I thought I’d use what free time I had to check in with Kal and Flora. Will wanted one of us to be here aboard ship with them.

“That’s understandable but if you do need to be off ship anytime don’t worry, both your children are in good hands with us. We’d Keep them safe.”

“I know you would” Amethyst nodded and smiled before leaning over and giving her daughter a kiss. “I’d best be getting back, I’ll see you after my shift.” With that she headed on her way.
