Post # 49 " Whirlwind "

A terrible electric storm raged outside making Will glad he was under cover of the entrance. The felines were long gone probably somewhere high and dry.

A sound and then some noise indicated company was coming. Gripping some sharded crystals to use as a weapon Will prepared for who or what ever was coming.

Kristian had ducked into a cave as she saw the approaching storm and in doing so caught movement, drawing her phaser and aiming in the direction of the movement "SHOW YOURSELF! I'm armed and I know how to use this!"

" Dr Long? Lower your weapons it's Commander Raymond."

"Step into the light," Kristian commanded

Will slowly did as he sloshed through mud from the rain seeping in.

" It's me. Are you ok? Two large cats were searching for you out there. They ran down into this cave. " Will replied.

Kristian holstered her phaser "I'm fine, but if they are in here they are not the cat beings. I was exploring the ancient ruins when I heard someone coming. I ducked into a structure and two men, not cats, men came in and found me. I told them I got separated from my friends. The cats are afraid of those ruins and the men tied me up and said something about mining. Commander they carry guns, not phasers but guns that shoot bullets."

" Projectile weapons are messy," Will said remembering Major Hurds firing into Kordels body.

" We need to find our people and shuttle. That storm out there is not letting up."

"I'm not afraid of getting wet," Kristian said "We can wait out the storm or we can look for our people," Kristian said "I have a tri-coder Lieutenant Herculoid gave me to run scans for her. I can scan for our people and the shuttle. Just say the word."

" Ah Hell let's do it." Will replied as he was already wet from hiding. The shuttles transponder would no doubt reveal to them that it was above them on the floating land continent.

Will looked at Longs tricorder.

" They are up there. Unless we grow wings and start flying we have a real problem Doctor.' Will commented.

Kristian studied the readings, they'd been walking for sometime and both were soaked to the skin. Stopping under the floating land mass Kristian looked up at it and then to the commander "My com-badge has been broken, contact them and let them know we're right underneath and need a way up. If we can't get up tonight we need to find a dry place. I can heat up some rocks with my phaser for warmth,"

Will touched his comm badge.

The storm intensified with lightning and winds all around them and what seemed to be thunder in the distance .

" Did you see that? Something just landed over that way," Will said pointing to his left. " Some kind of ship."

Kristian scanned the area where the commander had pointed "I think we need to be on alert. That could be those men who I escaped from."


Will tapped his comm badge again and heard a marvelous sound.

[ Commander Raymond? This is Lt Urma. The shuttle is under repair but we can pick you up when this storm dissipates.]

" Best news I've heard all day." Will replied.

"We need to find cover where we can get out of this rain before we both end up sick," Kristian said as she looked around and spotted an outcropping not far away. "We need to get under that. I'll use my phaser to heat things up to warm us up. Follow me," Kristian led the way to the outcropping, pulling her phaser out she changed the setting on it and fired at several of the rocks and one of the walls causing them to glow red.

Will enjoyed the heat and the canopy.

" DOCTOR your amazing. I'll deny that on the ship though. We have another problem...who ever knocked me out took my phaser or I lost it in the cave." Will replied.

"I brought an extra power pack for mine. But as for yours we can go back and look for it when the storm breaks or we can just chalk it up to a loss," Kristian commented as she pulled her long hair free of the restraints causing it to fall to her waist. Spotting a couple large boulders she walked over and managed to roll them both closer to the glowing red rocks and took a seat. "We need to warm up," pulling out her medical tri-coder she scanned the commander "You have a mild concussion, you'll have a headache for few hours."

" Oh yeah....that does hurt like...heck. Doc thanks ."

Kristian pulled out a hypo-spray, loaded it with something for the headache, got up and walked over to where the commander was seated "This will help with the headache," she pressed it against his neck

Will clenched but only slightly and then stood up to walk it off.

" " What's in that pure espresso?" Will said as he looked upward. " I hate alien world rain storms."

"If I told you commander you wouldn't understand anyway. Take a seat and warm up," Kristian said "I can make it an order."

Will nodded as he was in no shape to argue with the Lieutenant. After the storm he hoped to link up with the others.

"Get some rest commander, we'll be fine in here," Kristian said



The storm passed sometime during the early morning hours as the hazelish sky slowly cleared. A wild pack of something ran past the grove revealing the large ravenous predictor dragon thing that chased them. Will stood up from the ground floor and looked over to find the Doctor.

Kristian walked into the makeshift camp and set a makeshift bowl of fruits in a nearby rock "I didn't want to wake you. I don't know about you but I'm hungry. And before you ask they're safe to eat I ran some tests and scans on them."

" You would walk into a tornado Doctor. Our ride should be here soon. I have been watching for any sign of movement up there," Will pointed up to the floating land mass.

"A tornado no, would you rather I'd not gone and gotten food for us?" Kristian asked suddenly loosing her appetite and tossed the piece of fruit she'd been going to eat back into the bowl. By now the rocks she'd heated up the night before had gotten cold. Packing up the things she'd used Kristian walked to the edge of the outcropping to wait for the shuttle to arrive.

" Relax, it's a joke." Will replied. A shimmer of light and suddenly the shuttle appeared and landed near them.

" Hurry up folks. Commander you are needed at a briefing." Ltjg Urma stated as she opened the rear shuttle door.

Kristian boarded the shuttle and sank gratefully onto a nearby seat.

The vessel had received a moderate hull repair by the natives. Structurally meeting Urmas's approval but only a proper engineer could verify.

" Urma I could kiss you." said Will.

" If you do you will need a dentist back on the ship Commander," Urma replied.

" Understood." Will said as he realized he was surrounded by feminists.

Kristian massaged her sore ankle, it acted up at times, she suddenly realized how tired she was as she'd not had a lot of sleep. "I'm curious as to these beings that fixed the shuttle," Kristian commented
