[CSO's Office]

After the meeting had ended, which seemed like it had taken forever, James' shift was over. When he had finished checking a couple of things James started for home to try and explain things to the lovely Mrs. McTavish.

[Quarters]

When he walked in the door James saw Heather sitting on the couch in her lounging attire with an empty glass sitting on the table; he walked over and bent down to give he a kiss “Hi my love, how are you doing?” he asked.

“Ok” came the reply.

“I'm going to change into something not Starfleet.....would you pour me a drink then we can talk” James responded. He made his way into the bedroom and found something suitable to put on then went back out into the living room where a drink was waiting for him.

He sat on the couch beside Heather and took a long sip of his whiskey then figured he best explain things “ So I suppose you want to know about the sudden meeting I was called to.”

“Well the thought had crossed my mind” Heather said “If you don't mind” came a irritated reply.

James figured he better start talking quickly before Heather became really angry; a prospect that he would try to avoid at all costs “The meeting was about Federation protocol as it applies to Planet Savai. Sounds like the Brass from Headquarters wants everything done by the book.”

Heather just looked at James then smiled "That's it.....that's what the meeting was about" a relieved Heather commented.

“Yes and that's why it's so important that you stop worrying so much about me...you worried for nothing" James replied.

She looked at her husband "Your right.....I'm sorry....I just worry about you that's all. Besides you sounded off when you contacted me."

James leaned in and gave Heather a kiss "I'm sorry too....I had lots going on today and didn't need to get tied up in a meeting about protocol for hours."

“Well I guess we're both have something to be sorry for.....so are you hungry....I have a Shepard's Pie in the convection oven” Heather said.

“Yes, I'm very hungry and that sounds delicious” he replied. The two of them went out in the Kitchen and enjoyed their meal together.

After dinner the two of them retuned to the couch with a drink each and James put his arm around Heather and kissed her forehead “I don't want to worry about me so much....I'll be fine" James replied.

"I'll try.....but i make no promises" she said with a grin then she gave him a kiss.

"That's all I can ask for" he replied as he kissed her.

So they sat the rest of the evening, enjoying just being with one another.
