Mission: Shake Down Cruise
Location: Ready Room

{ON}

School inspection over Christina made her way to see Captain Song. She hoped she wouldn’t mind her bringing young Kal along with her. Arriving outside the ready room Chrissy looked at Kal. “Remember what I told you Kal, you’ll need to sit nice and quiet for me while I talk to the Captain okay?”

“Yes Chrissy” Kal nodded. “Can I draw?” He held up the pad and pencils he had with him.

“Of course you can” Chrissy nodded. She reached out her hand and pressed the chime waiting for an answer.

"Come in," Cyndi called as she set a small ant farm on her desk.

Christina walked politely inside with Kal at her side. “Christina Monroe, I’m the new teacher and nanny to young Master Aloran here.” She smiled as she looked at Kal, who was fascinated by the ant farm on the desk in front of him.

"Welcome aboard," Cyndi replied "What do you think of the school? From one teacher to another I have a couple boxes in my quarters that your welcome to use."

Walking over to where Kal was she knelt down next to him "I'm Cyndi, I'm the captain of this ship. You like the ant farm? My little boy likes ant farms, he loves to watch them build tunnels."

Kal smiled and nodded. He was an a-typical shy five year old amongst those he didn't know.

Christina smiled. "Trust me he's not normally that shy for long Captain. Visit him at home when he's with his mother and you'll find a different boy." She smiled at Kal. "The school is wonderful, I'll admit I've never taught aboard a Starship before but I'm going to enjoy it."

"If you'd like the ant farm it's yours," Cyndi said standing and turning to face Christina "He's had a lot to take in, a long shuttle ride out here, being met with armed officers in the shuttle bay and then meeting the ship's captain. I'm not the least bit concerned he's shy. If my son were aboard he'd be the same way."

“That’s very kind of you Captain” Christina smiled as she looked at Kal, who was still glued to watching the ants. “Our early arrival was my fault. We were scheduled to arrive on a later transport, but we were offered an earlier shuttle ride. I thought it would be best to get Kal back with Amethyst sooner rather than later, plus he tells me his father is also here.”

"It's no ones fault, we're testing the ship for issues and the sensors were giving us false readings," Cyndi commented as she turned back to Kal "Do you like snakes? I have a ten foot one in my quarters. It was a gift to me from a tribal chieftain on my cadet cruise. I helped his people and in return he gave me the snake. I call him Walker. And remember the ant farm is yours."

Kal smiled. “Thank you” he looked at Chrissy. “Can I go, see the snake?”

Christina smiled. “I think that’s something you’ll have to ask mummy when you see you later sweetheart.” She looked back at Cyndi. “I’d like to request access to the personnel files of those who have children if that’s possible? I’d like to organize meeting with parents and introducing myself.”

Cyndi nodded "It's possible, give me a couple of hours to get it downloaded to a PADD." Turning back to Kal she knelt next to him. "She's right, just because I know Walker is not poisonous does not mean your mum knows it. Make sure you tell her he's save okay? My son loves him and when I left home and took Walker with me my son was not happy with me."

Kal smiled a warmer smile. He was starting to like the Captain. “I will tell mummy, thank you!”

“Actually when we have the school up and running maybe you could bring Walker to visit the children?” Christina looked at Cyndi offering a big smile. “It would be interesting to learn about snakes.”

"I can do that," Cyndi said

“Excellent” Christina smiled. “We’ll look forward to it.” She looked to Kal. “Right young man shall we get back?” She gently picked up the ant farm for Kal. “Thank you for this Captain, I’ll put it in his room for him.”

Getting to her feet Cyndi placed her hand on Kal's shoulder "I'm glad your here and you can call me Cyndi." Turning to Christina let me know when and I'll bring Walker into the class room. I will warn you I do carry him as pushing his tank through the ship is a little difficult. I’m glad to have met both of you and I'll have that information to you in a couple of hours."

Christina nodded. “Thank you Commander.” She looked at Kal. “Come along Kal, lets get your ant farm home shall we?”

Kal nodded before suddenly giving Cyndi a big hug. “Thank you!!”

Cyndi returned the hug "Your most welcome." she said smiling at the boy.

Returning to Christina’s side, the two headed on their way leaving Cyndi to get on with her day.
