Having been beaten to the psych evaluations of the McTavish family Amethyst decided to drop in and introduce herself. There was no point in putting either of the couple through another evaluation. Arriving outside their quarters she hoped they wouldn’t mind he quickly dropping by. Pressing the chime she waited for an answer.
Heather heard the door chime and looked at James "I wonder who that could be." "There's only one way to find out" he answered.
So Heather went and opened the door; she was quite surprised by who was on the other side "Counselor, what a nice surprise....please come in" she said.
Amethyst smiled warmly as she greeted Heather. “Thank you very much.” Walking inside she nodded politely to James. “Forgive me for interrupting your off duty time, I didn’t get to conduct your evaluations so I thought I’d drop by and see how you’re settling in?”
Heather looked at James being quite puzzled then said "Where are my manners; please have a seat" as she gestured towards a chair "Can I get you something to drink?" Meanwhile James took a seat on the couch waiting to see how this was going to play out.
“Thank you” Amethyst smiled as she took a seat. “I promise you this is nothing to do with your evaluations, I just prefer to meet those I haven’t yet met.”
Now James was really confused as was Heather. He looked over at Heather as she nodded towards Amethyst.
James took a deep breath, than began to try and explain "Counselor, about three months ago I came aboard Ship and one of the Starflleet Regs was that I had to have an Eval to be cleared for duty......that Eval was performed by yourself in your office; do you remember that meeting" he asked wondering if she'd remember or not.
“Heavens! I’m sorry, I swear I’m going crazy!” She shook her head and grinned. “My apologies Lieutenant.”
James just smiled "That's quite alright and please since we're not on duty, call me James" he replied then shot a look at Heather.
Then it was Heather's turn "Not to make things more complicated, but I came aboard about a week later and you also did my Evaluation in your office as well to clear me for duty" hoping that telling Amethyst wouldn't make things worse.
Amethyst sighed. "I swear, so much has happened in the last few months I think the birth of my daughter Flora has completely messed with my mind!" She couldn't help but wonder what else she might have forgotten.
Heather felt genuinely bad for Amethyst " If I may.....perhaps you should have a Doctor check you out. There is no sense of blaming yourself for a Biological reason....trust me a Biologist knows these things" she said reassuringly.
Amethyst nodded. "Maybe you're right, I should learn not to burn the proverbial candle at both ends!" She grinned. "I'm sorry if I've bothered you."
James looked over at the Counselor with a smile "Amethyst your not bothering us at all. We're glad you stopped by for a chat. We haven't had much in the way of company since we've come aboard." Heather nodded in agreement.
"Perhaps you'd both like to come over for dinner with Will and I one night? That's if you don't mind having two young children around as well."
Heather was surprised by the invite, but in a good way "We'd love to and young children are certainly not a problem with us" she replied as James agreed.
"Excellant" Amethyst smiled, "I'll speak with Will and let you know what night. In the meantime I'll get out of your hair and leave you to your evening."
Heather walked Amethyst to the door "Sounds good. Have a nice night and thanks for stopping by" she said.
Amethyst nodded. “It’s been my pleasure, sorry for the mix up.” With that she headed on her way.
After Amethyst left Heather turned to James "I'm a little concerned about her. Does she seem a little off to you?"
"Yes a little bit; don't worry I'm sure she'll be fine" James answered.
