Hearing the door chime Cyndi turned from the picture she'd just hung. It was a picture of her husband and son who were back on her home planet of Klavor. "Come in."

Jackson walked into the Captain's Ready Room. He put his bag down and stood at attention. "Captain Jackson Porter, reporting for duty, ma'am."

"At ease captain," Cyndi replied, seeing his bag she nodded toward the chair in front of her desk. Have a seat, how was the flight out here?" she asked waking to her desk and took a seat. "Do you have your transfer orders?"

"Yes, ma'am." Jackson handed over the PADD with his orders. "The trip was good once I got under way. As usual, someone doing the admin work had screwed up my orders and nearly sent me to Mars for drydock duty."

Taking the offered PADD Cyndi plugged it into her computer and downloaded the information. Once it was done she removed the PADD and set it aside and closed her lap top. "Drydock duty is reserved for those who are nearing the end of his or her career with Starfleet. I hope when my time comes I fair better than that. I'm glad it was straightened out. Your record is impressive and I'm glad to have you here. The marine commander is Captain Redex. I'm not sure how many marines are pilots that is something for the two of you to discuss."

Jackson nodded. "Will do, Captain. I looked over the fighter compliment and the ship's amenities for the fighters and equipment. Quite impressive, even for your typical Galaxy class ship. I assume there's a mission-specific reason for all the extra material?"

Cyndi nodded "There is, we've been ordered to head to a recently discovered quadrant called Sagittarius. No other ship has been there, we'll be the first."

"'Where no one has gone before', indeed," Porter replied, quoting the famous Zefram Cochrane. "Will any other ships be joining us as a fleet, or is it just us heading out there?"

"To be honest I don't know, headquarters have not told me," Cyndi admitted

Jackson snickered. "No surprise there. Well, is there anything you require of me before I check in with the Quartermaster, ma'am?"

"Not that I can think of," Cyndi said "Just keep me posted on how the fighter wing is doing."

"Aye, ma'am." Jackson snapped to attention, stepped back, and left the office. He let out a relaxing sigh. Not knowing a thing about the new CO coming into the ship, he wasn't sure what to expect, but he was pleased with how the introduction went. Thinking about what was next to come, Jackson decided to head to his new quarters before paying a visit to his new office.
