James was at the Science Station when he heard the Commodore's request to check the area for possible cloaked Romulan vesels along the boarders.
Initiating the Parametric scan James started watching the Screen intently so he would not miss anything. After making a few adjustments to the parameters, James was satisfied with the reliability of the scans. This would prove to be a long Morning until he was relieved at twelve hundred hours.

Heather walked into the Lab to continue her research in regards to the 'super chlorophyll' experiments for possible implementation to areas where growing plants may be a problem.
Even though the research was going well, Heather still had a stumbling block; how to make the material stable enough to extend the 'shelf life' for effective distribution.
Heather walked over and fired up the 'electron microscope' to pick apart the structure of the chlorophyll; hopefully to find a way to incorporate an extender into the composition of the material.
"Lets see what I can add to the structure to help extend the 'shelf life'" she thought to herself. After a few hours of research, Heather felt she was getting close but was not quite there yet.

James was still checking the Parametric scans at one Science Station while checking for any Spacial problems in the area at the second Science Station. Neither Stations showed any problems for the moment, but he would continue to monitor both Stations until his relief showed up.

As Heather was thinking about what could be used as an extender, she had a thought "Maybe a 'sterilized citrate' compound could do the trick."
A very excited Heather grabbed what she needed along with a bottle of citrate to start the sterilization process. After about an hour she had a compound that just might work.
Returning to the electron microscope, she slowly added some of the compound then watched for the results. The compound seemed to bond well with the chlorophyll molecules for the time being. Now Heather would store the new compound and see how long it would last before spoiling; which would have to be checked frequently.

James' time at the Science Station was almost over with. When his replacement arrived he showed her what he had been doing and explained what to look for. After the rather lengthy explanation, James felt his replacement was capable of carrying on with the scans.
The rest of his day would be spent doing his favorite job....paperwork which went with the territory. Still it was easier than starring at two Screens for five hours.
