Murdoch Thirman was in actual space sort of as he piloted his manual driven surveillance drone. It wasn't the same as actively flying but all he needed was two sorties and he would qualify for 2nd Lieutenant.

" Lt Rivers what is you call sign again?" Murdoch asked her over the comm channel.

Tapping her comm "Call sign is Lightening Bug," Alesha responded. .

" Mine is Midnight. Leaving sector 0. There Is definitely a tachyonic reading. Should I engage further with the drone?" Midnight asked as he wore a visor and had hand controls to steer the drone.

"Yes, I want to see what is out there," Alesha said "Explore up section 3"

" Aye aye Leaving section 0 heading to section 3." Midnight replied. In space his drone flew past space dust and debris at sub impulse speed.

" The readings are strong here ma'am."

"Can you pin point where the source is coming from?" Alesha asked

" These readings are tricky.... Switching to manual view. " Midnight replied. A few seconds later he discovered the source.

" Lightening Bug, we are dealing with a cloaked probe. It has a ionized gas trail. Sending data to the main computer for analysis." Murdoch reported.

"I've never heard of a probe that can cloak," Alesha replied. "Where is it heading and can you intercept it?"

" Yes now but the weapons might not penetrate its hull. And by the time we lock on it will move. The ship will never be able to lock on to it. Firefly I can ram it and try to damage it or destroy it. But the Commodore might want to secure it?" Murdoch replied.

"Don't ram it, it might have a war head on it. Can you determine where it came from and who or what may have sent it?" Alesha asked

Murdoch linked to the ships sensors and then relayed the scans back.

The speculation revealed.....


< After the Exercise >

Murdoch approached Alesha with a big smile.

" The intel was sent upwards. We rocked it L.T. lets sign out and go have a celebration. I am once step closer to getting my promotion to officer." Murdock smiled.

"I'd like that," Alesha said "We can head up to ten forward if you like?"

" Well let's go my lady." Murdoch charmed
