Post Number 51 A Request

Tara had been monitoring the sensors and the sensor ghost had her interest peeked. Couple that with the sensor ghost if that was indeed what it really was seemed to be coming from another planet in the system, roughly half a light year away. Wanting to investigate and possibly explore it needed to be cleared by her boss and then the commodore and first officer. Picking up her PADD with the readings on it Tara made her way to James office, palming the door sensor Herculoid wanted for James to answer.

James was at his desk going over some things when he heard the door sensor go off. Looking up "Come in" he said. Then he saw Lieutenant Herculoid enter with PADD in hand "Lieutenant, what a nice surprise. Please have a seat" James stated sitting back in his chair being grateful for the distraction.

Tara took a seat and handed him her PADD "I've been seeing sensor ghosts, I don't know if it's a ship or what. But it's centered around the next planet in this system a half light year away. Pending your permission I'd like to go investigate and do some exploring of the planet. This sitting on my backside is getting to me."

James chuckled at Tara's last remark "Yes I know what you mean" he replied then continued "Earlier today I discovered the same thing, a 'ghost' if you will. I ran a quick diagnostics of the Parametric Scanners but they reported normal function.

"I did the same thing. Its odd," Tara commented, "I'd like to take a shuttle and go have a look see."

After thinking for a few minutes "I suppose that would be a way to know for sure" James replied, but something was nagging at him "My biggest concern is that if that 'ghost' is a Romulan ship then I don't want to see you putting yourself in danger."

"It's no secret that my people and the Romulans don't like each other. We do have a treaty with them and I can hope if it is Romulans they'll honor the treaty. I'd take Rivers fighter but that will be needed here. I'm not afraid James. But there is something going on. The shuttles do have weapons on them," Tara replied, "We need to know what is going on and one shuttle shouldn't be a problem."

After a few more minutes of thought, and against his better judgement, he replied "You're right of course. But under one condition; if it does turn out to be Romulan then at the first sign of trouble you are to 'bug' out of there. I don't often pull rank but that is an order. Understood" James replied and after a long sigh "At least we'll know for sure."

"Understood sir " Tare replied. "Now to get the commodore to agree. I had to have your permission first."

"Ya, that's probably be a good idea" he replied with a chuckle "Just be careful out there....I don't want to have to replace my favorite Assistant" then offered a warm smile.

Tara smiled as well "I'm not planning on going anywhere so your stuck with me. I'll record everything so you and the commodore are kept in the loop. Thank you for agreeing to this."

"You're welcome and just for the record, being stuck with you is not a bad thing besides I wouldn't want to hear Heather complaining that she had to get used to a new boss" he replied with a grin.

Tara couldn't help but laugh, "She's a good officer and I enjoy working with her. I'll get out of your hair and go see the commodore and see if she'll agree to this."

"Good luck with the Commodore....and please be careful out there" James replied then went back to his boring work.
