# 58 Meeting The Ambassadors

Tapping her com-badge “Commander Bird report to my ready room, dress uniform.

The time had come and it wasn't what Jay wanted as he laid out his dress uniform. The last time he had worn one was the death of his old DI and friend.

Every medal and epilette earned yet he felt wrong to parade them as he lived and his friends were gone.

Sporting his rank Jay made for the ready room, passing ensigns and even dodging the occasional whistle. Finally arriving to the Commodores ready room.

" Arriving as ordered Commodore."

Cyndi had taken the time to change into her dress uniform, not one she was fond of but knew it had to be done, her hair instead of her usual ponytail now a bun on top of her head "Thank you commander, the ambassadors are arriving. Two shuttles, two different shuttle bay's. Fighter escort. I need to meet one set of ambassadors and you the other set. Since I can't be in two places at once."

" Certainly Commodore. What are our rules of engagement? Just kidding I promise to be on my best behavior. I am capable of that." Jay joked.

"I know you are," Cyndi said "Rules are simple, both parties have to be the first one to arrive. Rivers has four fighters out, two will escort Ambassador Keelflex's party, they'll land in shuttle bay two, the other two will escort Ambassador Ferrin's party, they'll land in shuttle bay one. I have guest quarters readied on two different decks. You'll meet one of them and I the other. At no time can they know I can't meet both of them the moment they land."

" If this is about rank why not ask the Admiral to step up and help. You both hold the same rank in Star Fleet?"

"It's not about rank, yes I could ask Paul to come out of retirement for this, Paul if he were active out ranks me. Are you saying you don't want to do this? Meet one of the ambassadors?" Cyndi asked .

" No ma'am. I was just thinking diplomatically. As for meeting the Ambassadors which one will I be assigned? Who is the Legitimate government leader of the planet ? Wait wasn't there three sects?" Jay asked.

"There is a Princess but from what I've been told she won;t leave the planet. You meet Ambassador Keelflex's party in shuttle bay two. Guest quarters for them are on deck four. I'll meet Ambassador Ferrin's party and they have guest quarters on deck five," Cyndi said "Formal dinner will be tomorrow. In the meantime we keep them separate."

" Don't worry I will or die trying. " Jay replied.

"I'm not concerned, the issue will be when the talks and the formal dinner start. In the meantime we need to get to our respective places. Any questions?" Cyndi asked.

" No Ma'am. I'll wing it " Jay smiled. Some of that being the truth as it was his way. Nothing like diplomacy, and pomp and circumstance."

"Then let's go meet our guests," Cyndi said.
