Mission:
The Forgotten Children
Location: Marine Commander's Office
Timeline: Current
Pacing his office, Major Hurd had finally decided to formally meet the Fighter Wing Commander. Hitting the common panel, he said, "Lieutenant Rivers, please report to my office on the double".
Tapping her com "On the way sir," Alesha responded, and headed for the major's office wondering if something was wrong. Arriving at his office a couple minutes later she palmed the door sensor and waited.
"Enter", Hurd said pleasantly. As she walked in, Hurd smiled and said, " Please have a seat Lieutenant, this isn't a chewing out or anything, I just wanted to talk to you is all".
Alesha walked in and saluted before taking a seat "What can I do for you sir?"
Smiling, Hurd said, "Relax Lieutenant, this is just a informal chat, not a court martial", Hurd chuckled. Taking a seat behind his desk, he ask, " So Rivers, what's the Condition of your pilots, your fighters, and most importantly, how are you?"
"My pilots and fighters are in top form. I have them training daily in simulators and when we're able they are out on patrol," Alesha replied "We're ready for what ever the commodore gets us into. As for me I'm fine, I get a little antsy when I'm not flying and if I had my way I'd live in my fighter," she laughed
Chuckling, Hurd said, " You sound quite a bit like myself when I'm not on the ground engaging the enemy". Smiling a bit, he pulled a PADD out of his desk and slid it to her. "On that PADD," he said, are the specs to the A-10 Warthog, a legendary group d support aircraft, as well as a brief sum.art of its service, but suffice to say its very impressive ".
" I already have had built 1 full size working model, and want your input into building 5 more to compliment your Wing." "All its weapons, fuel, replacement parts, user
manuals and tools can be replicated, and what's more I've set up a holodeck program to teach pilots how to fly, fight, takeoff, and land it." Smiling broadly, he asked, simply, "Your thoughts?"
Alesha read the design schematics on it and nodded "It sounds and looks impressive, I'd love to take it out for a spin, I'm game for it if the commodore will approve it. Currently we carry a squadron of Delta's and my personal fighter. But this looks highly impressive."
Smiling, Hurd said, "I'm glad you agree". " The only downside is that these are suborbital craft, and will have to be hauled to a planets surface, but once there, well, let's just say they can tear stuff up real bad, real quick ".
"I see a bigger issue, Commodore Song will have to okay this before you can get them on the ship," Alesha commented "But they do look impressive to say the least."
Hurd smiled once more and said, "I agree, I'll speak with her soon". Pausing, he added, " Is there anything you need from me and my men?"
"Not that I can think of," Alesha said "What about you? Anything you need from me or my pilots?"
"No", Hurd smiled. " Y'all have been doing a excellent job, I have no complaints ".
Pausing he added, " Think you could teach me to pilot one of your craft?"
Alesha nodded "I can teach you, that is if you can take orders from a lowly lieutenant. And take a dressing down if it comes to that from
me."
Smiling, Hurd laughed and said, " I can do that". Pausing for a moment, he then stated, " In return, I'd like to offer you and any of your pilots who want it, a full School Of Infantry Course and a more advanced version of SERE training in they event any of you are ever shot down or have to bail out. That is, if you willing".
"I've had some training in that major but I'm always willing to have more. So count me in and I'll speak to my people," Alesha replied
"Good", Hurd said smiling. " Is there anything else?"
"Not that I can think of," Alesha said "I'll look over your file and see where to start you in piloting a fighter."
"Very well, you are dismissed", Hurd said saluting.
Alesha returned the salute and headed out.
