Bjorgo had left Nira's quarters and made his way to wherever the Commodore was, calling for Commander Kahn to join them. Song said to come to her Ready Room, so he went there directly. Once he had chimed and was told to enter Tore stepped within to face his two CO's. "Apologies for the abruptness of this meeting, but we have a problem."
Liza stood quiet, wanting to hear more, and choosing to let Song pull it forth. Bjorgo was agitated, and since she now had clearance to read his true personnel file, seeing him flustered could lead to some really bad things. She did note that Tore kept moving his right hand and fingers, as if there was an irritation. She remained silent to let the Commodore speak first.
"Have a seat doctor," Cyndi offered "Is your hand okay? Want me to call Doctor Long in to have a look at it? And what kind of problem are we dealing with? Your upset."
"My hand is fine, thank you. Strained while exercising." Tore made no move to sit down, though he did get himself more under control. "Commodore, Commander, I regret to inform you that Nira has gone off on her own to scout the planet we're headed for. You've seen her portal, you know it works. She looked at still pics of the compound and surrounding jungle terrain and decided where to zap into. I tried to physically stop her and she attacked me. Then, she stepped through and was gone."
Liza rubbed her brow a moment, considering all angles. "She is a tribal being, used to the outdoors. Her own technology is on par with ours, so she knows how to avoid detection. And, she isn't Starfleet nor is she a Federation citizen. Maybe she'll bring back good intel Hurd could use." Kahn would always root for David to pull himself together and become the leader she knew he could be.
"That or she could cause a bigger problem," Cyndi commented "Question now is what do we do? Granted she can avoid detection but do we try to find her as I don't want her to get hurt. Or do we let her play this out and see what she can come up with?"
Tore closed his eyes a moment and released a slow sigh of frustration. "She does this Cyndi out of some misguided belief that she is here to protect you. She refers to you as the matriarch, all the time. I can only think that females are held in high regard in her own society. When she returns we need to sit her down and explain things. Make her honorary Starfleet or some shit. That way she is obligated to follow your directives, Commodore, and won't just zip off where she will." Once that was out he switched tracks. "There is no way of knowing where she went, or if we can even detect her with passive scans. We have no choice we have to let this play out."
"Agreed," said Kahn. "However, we still need to go forward with our own plans, Commodore. We can't wait on a maybe. If we can free those Cardassians then we must do so."
"Your both right. It is possible that her society females are the high ranking officials. One thing is for sure I don't need protection," Cyndi replied "And I know Liza you'll disagree with that statement. We'll assume orbit soon and go from there. I wonder if science can scan for her life form and find her. But if we do that we stand the chance of ruining the respect she has for us. Freeing the Cardassians is key right now and we'll have enough problems with the Jem Hadar."
Kelliza thought a moment. "We won't ruin her respect. She'll be miffed if we just beam her back, but you are the matriarch of this clan, as she says." That brought a crooked grin to Liza's face which faded quickly as she looked to the Doctor. "We'll get her back, Tore. She can take care of herself."
"It's not her that worries me, it's the shit storm she might cause for us." Replied Bjorgo. "But, I've seen her in natural surroundings. Most times I don't even know she's there."
"In the regards of command yes I can see where she'd think I was the matriarch. Yes we'll get her back and I have no doubt she can take care of herself. But doctor what do you mean by her natural surroundings and not knowing she's there all about."
Tore looked at them both. "She grew up on a jungle world. She knows how to use terrain to her advantage, and is extremely adept at hiding, sitting still for hours like a statue. For an augment like me to not detect her, that's some serious skills."
"That, and her weirdo magic," Liza added. "It can aid her in many ways, but it taxes her so she needs to hole-up and rest if she uses it too much in too short a time. She and I have discussed it at length. According to her," she looked back and forth between Bjorgo and Song. "Tore is also capable. Though, that remains to be seen."
"Yeah," admitted Tore. "She said the same thing to me. But, I have yet to see it. I have a hard time wrapping my head around the prospect of magick."
"Doctor if any of that magic come out I trust I'll be notified. If she did indeed grow up on a jungle planet where she knows how to hide that could be an advantage. Staying motionless is not easy but Nira is no ordinary being either. In some ways she reminds me of a child and in other ways she's highly advanced and we could learn a lot from her," Cyndi commented,
"Exactly, Cyndi," said Liza. "She sees us as quaint most times. But, yes, she is also very innocent in many ways. Anyway, thank you, Tore, for bringing this to our attention. At least now we know we have someone on the ground. If she even got there, we have no way of knowing."
"I'll return to Sickbay until you guys need me." Bjorgo needed to figure some things out. "If an away team needs me please don't hesitate to add me."
"We won't, thank you, Doctor." As he left Liza looked to Song. "Something tells me that this is all going to work out in our favor, Cyndi. With all we have to rely on as a crew this is just par for the course."
"I agree and we do have a damned fine crew. I only wish we knew if Nira is on the planet or not. We'll just have to trust her," Cyndi commented.
Kahn gave her CO a nod as she finished speaking. "We got this, Sir. I'll see to the Bridge, for now." Liza headed for the door, and just before she got within sensor range for it to open she stopped and half turned, looking back at the Commodore. "As for trusting Nira, Cyndi, I would trust her with my life." Giving another nod of respect to Song, Liza then stepped out onto the Bridge.
Cyndi watched Liza go and nodded Nira was an interesting person. It would be fun to see her grow.
