Tara had studied the planet and found a good spot for her and McTavish to beam down to and a perfect spot to set up a makeshift lab where they could work on finding out if the Jem Hadar had found a substitute of the white they needed to survive or if by some slim chance had managed to stop needing it. After sending word to her boss along with the coordinates to where she was beaming down to Tara grabbed her field kit, tucked a phaser into a pocket of the Cardassian suit she wore headed to the transporter room. Walking in she handed the operator the coordinates “Beam me down to that location please and as soon as Lieutenant McTavish comes in send him there too.
Taking the information the operator input it into the terminal and nodded “Anytime your ready lieutenant and I have it saved for Lieutenant McTavish.”
Thanking him Tara stepped onto the transporter PADD “Energize,” Seconds later the Amandora’s transporter room was replaced by the rocky, mountainous terrain of the planet. Pulling out her tri-coder Herculoid scanned the area; the nearest settlement was nearly a quarter mile away. There was no sign of any Cardassian or Jem Hadar near where she’d beamed down to. Spotting an outcropping of rock that was partially hidden from view she headed there. This would make the perfect spot for the makeshift lab and still give them easy access to the settlement.
Once under the outcropping Tara set up the makeshift lab, shielding her eyes she looked skyward, there was not a cloud in sight and the temperature was already hot with the promise of getting hotter. Scans had proven right this was indeed harsh conditions. Tara couldn’t help but wonder if the other settlements were different or was the entire planet this hot? Pulling out a communicator “Lieutenant Herculoid to the Amandora, please let Lieutenant McTavish know I’m on the surface and everything is clear.”
“Acknowledged lieutenant,” came the reply
