Tara took a drink of water before answering as she accepted the bag containing the plant. “We spent hours in a dark, hot underground mine digging for crystal. The Jem Hadar think it’s dilithum but it’s just quartz. I made friends of two women. They told me that after the work in the mine is done they’re expected to as they call it pleasure them and then cook for them. If they don’t like what is being cooked they get beaten. They try to refuse their advances they’re beaten.”
Tara opened the bag, took out a small amount of the plant, picked up a slide and placed it on the slide and slid it into her micro-scope and studied it for several minutes jotting down some notes as she did so. Finishing Tara cleaned the slide, put it back in the case and jotted down more notes before looking at James. “It appears this plant is a cross between common weeds the Dandelion, Moss, what on Earth is called Cannabis and Milkweed. Combining them and mashing it up and adding of all things pulp from what is known as Bitter Gourd. Why those weeds are here is beyond me. But combining them all they will produce what is similar to white and yes will make blood green.”
“From what I saw they make the old ones tend the gardens where those plants are grown. The women I talked to want off this rock and a life that is not so hard and not as hot. I have to wonder if anyone else found a different kind of region, I also have to wonder what the commodore is going to do and if she does get these people off this planet and take the Cardassians too their home planet how will they be treated. Or will the commodore find a planet where they can live in peace. Then there is the Jem Hadar, most don’t have a long life and from what I understand of them they don’t have the ability to reproduce but yet I saw kids off in a distance that resemble both Cardassian and Jem Hadar so it’s clear that they are able to reproduce. And what will happen to them and where will they go?”
