Mission: The Forgotten Children
Location: Major Hurd's Office
Timeline: Current

Sitting behind his desk, Hurd decided to brief his Recon Team and get the ball rolling. Tapping his Combadge, he said, "Lieutenant McKeon, First Lieutenant Jackson, report to my office ASAP". Closing the channel, Hurd leaned back in chair and waited for his team to arrive".

Greg made his way from the armory where he had been making a final check on a couple of stubborn phaser rifles that had failed a routine maintenance check. Making his way to Hurd’s office he entered bracing to attention, “Major,” he said with a nod of his head.

" Good Day Jackson, stand at ease, we are waiting for one other and we can begin ", Hurd said with a smile.

Alister glanced up from the PADD he was reading and then over at his assistant, “We’ll continue this later, unless somethings important?”

“Nothing that can’t wait,” the Trill responded, “Have fun on the desert planet.”

Alister grumbled as he stood up and made his way to Hurd’s office pressing the admittance button.

"Enter", Hurd said calmly. As he walked in, Hurd stood to shake his hand and said, " Looks like we got our work cut out for us doesn't it?"

Alister took the offered hand, “Possibly depends on the Jem H’dar. If they are keeping themselves separate from the civilian population it’ll be easy to spot their bases and plan and operation. If they’re engrained tightly into the civilian population locating all their strong points will be much more difficult. That and a desert is never a fun environment to operate in.”

Hurd shook his head and said, "No, no they are not. "I also don't like the fact we may, and I hope to God not, have to engage in Urban Combat, which, believe me from experience, can turn into a nightmare in no time at all". Hurd stood and paced behind his desk for a moment, and then asked, Any suggestions, Gentleman?"

“Identify the Jem H’dar positions and hope they are separate to avoid a drawn out urban combat,” Alister said sitting down, “Long range reconnaissance deep in the desert using powerful binoculars and other viewing devices should do the trick. It’ll be a couple of miserable days but would allow us not to interfere with the ongoing under cover operation.”

“We’ll also need to identify potential landing zones for Marine deployments. We could draw out the Jem H’dar if we take key positions and force then to attack us if they are embedded with the locals at least try to bring into play heavier assets,” Greg added speaking from his seat, “If it looks like it will devolve into an urban fight securing a landing zone and setting up forward supply depots would allow a rapid expansion of ground forces as additional Marine units are brought into theater.”

"Agreed to all", Hurd said. "Arm yourselves and meet me in the transporter room in one hour, dismissed".

Greg gave a nod of his head before giving the Major a salute and heading to his quarters to grab gear.

Alister stood up from the chair, “I’ll bring a couple of Intel toys that if the brain trust is correct should force the Jem H’dar to decloak if near us.
