Posted on Sun Jan 9th, 2022 @ 1:49pm by Commodore Cyndi Song & Major David Hurd Senior & 1st Lieutenant Greg Jackson
Mission:
Kidnapped
Location: Cargo Bay 1
Timeline: Back Post Prior To Start Of This Mission
Hurd had been thinking very long, and very hard about his recent actions, and felt he needed to address them, and as hard as it was, to admit he was wrong and apologize. Tapping his com-badge, Hurd said, "Hurd to all Marine Personnel, Pilots, Commodore Song, First Lt. Jackson, First Lt. Rivers, Lt. Commander Kahn, and Christina Hurd, please assemble in Cargo Bay 1, I need to address all of you, Hurd out". After closing the channel, he made his way to the bay and waited for the others to arrive.
Tapping her com-badge "This is Rivers on my way sir,"
Cyndi looked at Paul "Duty calls I'll be back."
Cyndi met Alesha on the way to the cargo bay and walked in together.
Christina was enjoying her holiday time from the school when her husband’s voice came across the comms. Making her way to the cargo bay she couldn’t help but wonder what it was he wanted to say.
Greg made his way to the cargo bay and glanced over at the others assembled raising a slight eyebrow in question toward Alesha.
Alesha shook her head indicating she had no idea what was going on.
Hurd had been pacing back and fourth while the room slowly filled. Glancing up, he saw that everyone had arrived. Clearing his throat, he said, in a booming voice, "Everyone, may I have your attention?"
Everyone snapped to attention awaiting what the major had to say
At Ease", Hurd said, Pacing back and fourth, looking into their eyes. "I called you all here for a reason today, and it's something that, while very hard for me to do, I feel it must be done". Clearing his throat, he said, "I want to offer my sincerest apologies to each and every one of you for my actions as of late". "I have let my anger, hate, and maliciousness cloud my judgement, and that in turn led me to take it out on you." Hurd stopped pacing and looked deeply into the eyes of each and every person in the room before he continued. "What's more important, it hurt you, those I consider family and friends, and for that, I am very, deeply sorry and ask for your forgiveness". Continuing he added, "And this I swear, what I have done will never be repeated, you have my word as your Friend, Marine Commanding Officer, Second Officer of the Amandora, and", he said, looking at Christina, "Your Husband, this I vow".
"That took a big man to admit it," Cyndi spoke up "As the commanding officer of this ship I accept your apology. I don't speak for your officers,"
"As the fighter wing commander I accept," Alesha said "And I speak for my pilots," she glanced at her pilots indicating they'd be talking.
Christina nodded giving her husband a proud smile. It was a very brave thing he’d done standing up in-front of everyone and admitting what he had.
Commander Kahn was standing next to Song, hands clasped behind her back as she gave David a crooked grin. "Major Hurd, we all have angst. I'm glad you finally recognize it within yourself and are owning it. That is the first step in healing. I accept the apology, though I see no need for it since you have acknowledged your past faults." The grin faded but her face remained neutral-friendly. "I believe we discussed your--impulsiveness a while back. I'm glad you are finally seeing it yourself. As your Exec, I see this as the first step in getting that bird on your collar." This time the grin was a slight smile.
Hurd stood still, a single tear sliding down his face. "Folks", He said, "thank you for your forgiveness, it means more than you know".
"Major we all make mistakes, I've made my share," Alesha said.
Kahn gave a nod to David and his wife, Christina. "I've had my moments of throwing things around rooms, or going into an empty briefing room and screaming at the top of my lungs when pushed to a certain point. But," she added for good measure. "I did it in private. Losing your cool when you're supposed to be the one with all the answers for your marines, does nothing for morale. You're a soldier, I get it, but you are also, first and foremost, Starfleet." Liza gave him a friendly punch to the right shoulder as she walked passed him. "You got this." As she continued to walk toward an exit she tossed over her shoulder. "I have a walkabout due in the lower decks, see y'all later." Kahn left through the doorway and it closed behind her.
Christina stood proudly by watching and listening to what people had to say, she made her way up to where her husband stood. “I am so proud of you, that wasn’t an easy thing to do.”
"Thanks Hun, I sure wasn't", Hurd said wrapping his arm around her.
“Well now you know it was the right thing” Christina smiled hugging him lovingly.
