Post Number 10 An Interesting Discovery

Tara had readied an impulse probe and launched it. Watching as it headed for the webbing she kept a close eye on the spiders, they didn’t seem interested at all in the probe. When the probe had reached the web, Herculoid activated the sensors on the probe and maneuvered it around the web getting a good look at it and the other things that were caught in it. Frowning at one of the readings Tara moved the probe in closer making sure she was seeing things right. Downloading the data onto a Padd Tara got up from the science console and over to where the captain was seated. Taking the seat usually reserved for the second officer “I found something interesting.”

Taking the offered PADD Cyndi read what the science chief had downloaded onto it and then gave her a puzzled look “Are you sure?”

“Yes captain, I’ve checked it twice, there is a good sized air pocket out there in that web,” Tara said “I couldn’t get the probe closer for fear of it getting caught and if there is anyone or anything alive in that web risk hurting it.”

“Were you able to find where those spiders came from?” Cyndi asked

“No captain, but I have a feeling they are similar to a species of spider that lives on planets where there is a supply of water. They are able to trap water in the hairs on their legs and build webs underwater and when the web is large enough they can live underwater for a period of time before needing to go to the surface to get more air. If my hunch it right these spiders must have a planet nearby where they can do the same thing only make air pockets in the webs, they need the anit-matter in order to feed on until a host that is alive can be caught and taken to the web,” Tara responded “Now I’m not saying this is the case but it’s a theory.”

“It has merit,” Cyndi agreed “I’m going to check with our counselor and see what she’s found out and how ready the anti-matter pod is so we can get it launched. Get to the shuttle bay and prep an inpulse shuttle for launch and have a second one on stand-by.”

“Understood captain,” Tara said

Tapping her com-badge “Captain Porter are your impulse fighters ready? Engineering have you finished filling the anit-matter pod so we can get it onto the impulse shuttle? Amethyst have you been able to make contact again with that man who reached out to you? Lieutenant Magnuson have you come up with anything for me? Captain Redex are you ready with security and marines for the away team.
