Once the meeting broke up Alesha walked from the briefing room, Tara joined her just as Kristian and Narla walked up “I don’t need to tell the two of you to be careful,” Narla said
“Aunt Narla you’re a worry wart, I know what I’m doing and so does Alesha, we’ll be fine,” Tara said giving her aunt a playful punch on the shoulder “I’m going to miss you when you leave.”
“Come on Tara I need to get you suited up, and brief my people,” Alesha said nodding to Narla “General”
Five minutes later the fighter pilots were assembled “We’ve located the commodore, Lieutenant Herculoid and I are going to be escorting the Amandora, Davis and Jones, there’s going to be a shuttle taking off, the two of you are going to escort it. Charge weapons but do not fire unless you have to, the rest of you are on standby just incase your needed. We’re bringing the commodore home at all costs. The planet she’s being held on is known for slave trade. Match course and speed for the shuttle while Herculoid and I will do the same for the Amandora. Any questions?”
“Just one lieutenant, “Davis said “Why is the assistant science chief going and how well can she fly?
“The lieutenant holds a minor degree in communications; she speaks several languages fluently and can easily pick up others. As for how well she can fly, she’s good. We’ve done dogfights back home. I trust her and Command Kahn wants her along,” Alesha said “She’ll be flying my fighter and I’ll be taking a Delta. Dismissed.”
“Your fighter?” Tara asked once the pilots left.
“My fighter and I have a surprise for you, Dragonfly, come on,” Alesha said leading the way over to where Her fighter was stored, tapping a command the tarp covering it was raised and on the canopy of Alesha’s fighter had been replaced from Firefly to Dragonfly, which was Tara’s call sign. “I had my people change canopy’s while you were changing, when we launch your to stay on my wing.”
“Alesha I don’t know what to say,” Tara said running her hand along the sleek hull of the fighter “This was a gift from your dad and I know what it means to you. Thank you and I’ll take good care of her.”
“I know you will,” Alesha said “We better mount up and be ready to launch.”
