Amos had kept the door between his bedroom and Cyndi’s open so he could hear her if she needed help. He was very concerned for her. She’d not eaten in several days that he knew of. He knew she’d been afraid to eat on Usher’s ship and with good reason, knowing Usher he’d have drugged her.

After looking in on her to find her still asleep, Amos laid the phaser he’d gotten for her on the nightstand by her bed. Walking from her bedroom he went to the kitchen to make her breakfast. Breakfast consisted of eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, a large glass of orange juice and a glass of milk. Putting everything onto plates, he then put the food on a tray and carried it to Cyndi’s room. Setting it down on a small table he gently shook her to wake her “Commodore wake up, I’ve made you something to eat.”

Cyndi opened her eyes and rubbed them to focus “It smells wonderful but…”

Helping her sit up, “I promise it’s not been drugged, I’ll prove it” Amos said picking up a fork and taking a bite of the eggs “See it’s safe and I know you’re hungry. I want you to trust me. I’m not going to hurt you.”

Cyndi looked at the food then to Amos and decided she needed to trust him and dug into the food.

Amos smiled as he watched her eat, she was still weak and he knew she was hurting and it bad shape. She needed a doctor, the ones here he wouldn’t even go to. After finishing their breakfast Amos took the dishes to the kitchen and put them in the sink, returning to her room he found her holding the phaser “I figured you needed one for when I have to be gone.”

“I don’t know how to thank you,” Cyndi said checking the weapon he’d given her “I’m going to have to resign myself that I’m going to be here for a long time. Usher’s gone by now and with him went the transponder SOS I was thanks to you able to rig. My ship will have no way to find me now. I need you to do me a favor.”

Taking a seat on the chair “If I can I’ll do it and I’d like to ask a favor out of you as well,” Amos replied

“This man Usher sold me to, if he finds me I want your word you’ll kill me,” Cyndi said “I don’t have the strength anymore to fight him off. I’ll tell you how to contact my parents who can contact my ship to let my husband know I’m dead.”

Amos shook his head “I can’t kill you, but I can promise you he won’t find you. Don’t give up hope, your ship will find you and you’ll see your husband and little boy again. You told me you’re a Starfleet Commodore and I know enough about Starfleet they’ll stop at nothing to get you back. Are you still bound to grant asylum to someone who asks?”

Cyndi nodded “I am,”

Amos took a deep breath, then I’m asking for asylum. I want to return to my wife and kids, can you do that for me?”

“I can do that, you’ve been more than fair to me,” Cyndi said

“Lie back and get some rest, you’re sick and I know you’re in bad shape. I have to go out for a while; I’ll lock the door when I leave,” Amos said helping her to lay down, Cyndi winced as she did lay down. In seconds she was asleep again, pulling a blanket over her Amos touched he forehead, Cyndi was still burning up meaning there as an infection someplace as well as being sick from the cold water Usher had sprayed her with. He’d changed the dressings on her wrists and ankles; he didn’t like what he was seeing. He’d heard her cry out during the night when she went to roll over in bed. Walking from her room, he pulled the door shut behind him. Amos hoped help would get here in time.
