Knowing Paul was right Cyndi needed to be cleared for duty by a psych evaluation. Sending T'Mia an invitation to beam down to her house. Where they could talk in private.
Having received Cyndi’s request T’Mia beamed down to their home on Klavor. Stepping up to the front door, she politely knocked and awaited an answer.
Brent hearing someone knock ran to the door and opened it, he looked up at T'Mia "Mummy's busy, she's making cookies. Who are you?"
T’Mia smiled warmly as she crouched down to Cyndi’s son’s height. “Hi there, I’m T’Mia. You must be... Brent, right?” She grinned. “Your mummy sent me a message asking me to come here.”
Brent nodded "Yup, how did you know my name? I never seen you."
Cyndi hearing voices, headed for the front door. "Brent what have I told you about answering a door?"
Brent looked at his mother "Her knocked and you was busy. Tole her you was making cookies."
"Please come in T'Mia," Cyndi said picking up her son.
“Thank you Captain” T’Mia smiled warmly. “I was just telling Brent that you asked me here.”
"He knows better than to open a door even if we are on Palace grounds," Cyndi said "He is right I am making cookies, follow me to the kitchen," Cyndi led the way into the kitchen, poured Brent a glass of milk, put several cookies on a plate "You take this out to the back porch."
"Okay mummy," Brent took the plate and milk and went out the back door and took a seat at a small table.
"Can I offer you something to drink?" Cyndi asked setting a plate with cookies on the table. "Please have a seat and thank you for coming so quickly."
Taking a seat T’Mia smiled warmly. “A Pepsi would be lovely if you have one Captain, if not a fruit juice will be fine, thank you.”
Cyndi walked to the replicator and made the request and handed it to T'Mia, picking up a glass of wine Cyndi took a seat but not before checking on her son.
“That’s a wonderful little boy you have there” T’Mia smiled warmly as she picked up her glass. She paused long enough to sip her drink. “You must miss him terribly when you’re away from him.”
"I do, but he's a lot safer here than he is with us," Cyndi replied "Keeping him safe is my main concern and I know he's safest in the Palace with my parents. Recent events cement this decision."
T’Mia nodded understandingly. “Speaking of recent events, how are you coping?”
"I'm coping, if it wasn't for Paul I'd be going crazy," Cyndi said "He's been my rock, held me on those sleepless nights when I didn't think I'd see him or my son again."
“So without Paul, you’d be a mess” T’Mia grinned. “There’s something to be said for having someone to love. “Have you been having nightmares? If so there are ways we can help you with that.”
Cyndi nodded "Yes they've been a problem, what I need is to get back to work. But that's up to you an Doctor Long. I do know I ever see Usher or Bishop again, I'll kill them."
T’Mia nodded. “I guess that’s understandable, not that it’s healthy you harbouring a want to kill them. I should be able to help you with your nightmares, that’s something we can work on together.”
Cyndi got to her feet and checked on her son, he'd finished his milk and cookies and was now playing with his grandfather, knowing Brent was safe Cyndi returned to the table and took a seat. "How can you help me overcome nightmares?"
“Well it’s a case of teaching you how to control them” T’Mia smiled. “I’ll provide you with some information on it, but the idea is that you set yourself a queue. Something that you can see, when you see it you’ll know that you’re dreaming. At that point you can control your dream, or step out of it completely.”
"And at that point I'll wake up?" Cyndi asked "The bad part of this is I wake my husband up too. I'm almost temped to sleep on the couch in the living room as he's not getting much sleep either. It's not fair to him."
“I’m sure your husband would rather be there for you, than leave you to cope alone Captain” T’Mia smiled warmly. “As for the nightmare, if you step out then yes, you should wake up. If you decide to take control of it, then what happens will be purely up to you. What I’d like you to do is keep a diary or journal of your nightmares, to keep a record of what you Experience and whether the directed dreaming helps at all.”
Cyndi nodded, "At this time I'm game to try. I'll talk to Paul and tell him too. Thank you as I know I'm safe now, not that I wasn't in the past. This was a fluke, but my mother thinks I need guards and ladies in waiting. Now you see why I joined Starfleet."
T’Mia nodded. “I joined because my parents are Starfleet Officers. My mother is a Counselor, and my father is an Admiral who still commands his own ship.” She smiled. “It seemed... logical to follow in their footsteps. Though my father wanted me to purge my emotions, I chose not to.”
"I joined at the urging of my mother," Cyndi said "Having a father who is an admiral can be a good or a bad thing."
T’Mia nodded. “Indeed, I live under a very large shadow. Anyway, how do you feel about returning to command? Do you think you can cope with the stresses that come with it?”
Cyndi nodded "I can and it might be what I need to keep my mind off what happened. I too live under a shadow, I married an admiral, that's why I didn't take his last name."
T’Mia nodded. “That is a wise choice Captain.” She pulled out a PADD and tapped it. “I have approved your return to duty. I think you’re clear headed, and able to Command. Any problems I do want you to come and see me though.”
"I will...and thank you. Now to get Doctor Long to agree," Cyndi commented.
“Well the physical side is her domain, I’ll pass on my recommendation to her.” T’Mia smiled warmly.
"Thank you," Cyndi said "Hopefully she'll agree with you. In the meantime I'm enjoying being home. It's been a long time."
“I can imagine. The Starfleet life isn’t an easy one, some parents have their children with them, and others decide not to. Each for their own reasons. Either way going home between assignments is always special.”
"Ive not been here in several years," Cyndi commented "While I miss home my career is Starfleet and my parents understand. Plus I reminded my mum this was her idea,"
T’Mia nodded. “Sometimes parents need reminding that they’re the ones who’ve influenced their young. I’m sure you’re acutely aware of that, being a mother yourself.”
"That I am, he's a joy and I never regret for one minute having him," Cyndi commented. "He keeps me on my toes, good thing is he's still young enough that he doesn't fully understand what his life is going to be. He's going to be King one day."
“It’s a lot for a child, but I’m sure he’ll grow up to become a wise King especially with a mother like you.” T’Mia smiled warmly. “Anyway I should be going, you have family time to enjoy.”
"It is a lot, he'll be fine. I never wanted to be Queen, I suppose I'll be that one day," Cyndi said getting to her feet, walking to the counter she bagged up several cookies and handed them to T'Mia "Take these back with you. I do need to tear my son away from my dad, it's Brent's nap time and I need to talk to my mum. I do hope you'll take time and visit my world."
T’Mia nodded. “I’d like to do just that Captain, and I intend to before we have to depart again.”
"We have no orders currently and I don't want to pull out until the claims from Usher can be resolved and Klavor be reinstated with the Federation. I believe I have proof but I need mum's permission to go to the old Palace," Cyndi said
T’Mia nodded. “Well should you need any help please feel free to call me.”
"I'll do that, and thank you," Cyndi replied "I will need to check in with the ship at some point."
T’Mia nodded and smiled. “Enjoy your break Captain.”
"I am believe me," Cyndi responded "And again I do hope you'll find time to enjoy the planet and all it has to offer."
