#7 In another life

Mission: Rescue On Romulus
Location: USS Amandora
Timeline: Current

ON:

Walking into her quarters Green stopped in her tracks just inside, the door closing behind her as the scene changed from her Starfleet quarters to the inside of her house on Tatooine. ~Here we go again~ she thought. She pulled the shawl from her shoulders and tossed it aside, wearing a white sports bra style top and tucked in military-style fatigue pants. Her saber was hooked to her belt on the left, her blaster pistol on the right thigh. It was late at night according to the clock. She had spent the better part of the day and early evening working on her X-wing. Cosmo had been with her every step of the way since her own engineering skills helped but recalling the skills for this galaxy tended to elude her at times. "What the hell are you trying to prove, Qeritas?" Ro asked herself aloud, going to the sink and running water as she began to clean her face, arms and hands. Tatooine was a treasure trove of sand and dust.

Cosmo gave a startled squeal and Green spun around, hand on her hilt. A person in robes (Jedi style) stood before her yet she never heard the door open nor the footsteps inside. Their chin was angled down so that seeing the face was difficult. They reached up to the hood's edge and pulled it back, letting it fall onto the back and shoulders. There stood the Q known as Qeritas. Normally the Q had a snarky grin on her face, her eyes both cynical and sarcastic at the same time. This time her countenance was one of seriousness and Green could feel danger creeping into her being. "Hello, Ro. You ask what am I trying to prove. I told you that any evil you perceive in your galaxy pales in comparison to what gets done here. As you already know the beings here call your Core the Force. There are two major orders who use the Force. One for good, one for evil. Light and dark." She paused a moment, then looked at Ro. "They are here."

"Who? Who are here?" Asked Green. She had researched who she was, and yes, several of her past family members had joined the Jedi order, and how the saber had come into her possession. The bloodline provided her the ability to use the Force, and through the Force she learned to wield her blade as proficiently as they. Never in public did she practice, always in solitude. This Green in this galaxy did not want to be a part of the Jedi, or at least that's what she always told herself.

"The Sith," answered Qeritas. "The Jedi are everything light whereas the Sith are everything dark. No mercy, murder and mayhem their calling card. You are in a time when both exist, with the Sith losing quickly. This has caused them to hunt down and destroy any Jedi their agents inform them of. Mos Ada dies this day. It is their destiny."

"Their des...to blazes with that!" Stated Rogue vehemently. "I won't stand by and watch these people get slaughtered." Images came to her mind, memories, from the few times she had seen the Sith in action. The Sith Empire was brutal and unforgiving and had no tolerence for those who opposed them. Whole planets, cities, and towns bombarded from orbit, killing and destroying as much as possible simply because they could. Rule by fear.

"Rogue, I am telling you you can't win. Not this fight. It is time to leave before they capture you. Find the Jedi and seek their aid and guidance. Don't fall to the dark side."

Then, off in the distance, Green could here the sounds of twin ion engines; TIE fighters. "It goes against my being to run. You know that. But, I'll heed your counsel. Cosmo!" The droid looked at her. "Fire up the converters and get ready to take flight." He bleeped and whistled as he rolled out the back door to the garage/warehouse.

Qeritas stepped forward and held Ro's face in both her hands gently. "I told you, you are my Champion. This twin life ordeal is to prepare you for greater things back home," she let her hands drop. "Every time you come here and return, you take something with you. May the Force be with you, always. Now, go."

The TIE's screamed by over the top of the town and their cannons could be heard firing into the center of town. Explosions rocked Mos Ada as power modules and vaporators exploded. Rogue's home vibrated from the hits to town as Green ran out the back and into the warehouse, Cosmo having already opened the main door like a hangar.

A TIE pilot noticed his scan readings. "T-65 in that warehouse, Sir. They've powered up."

"Break off with your element, Lieutenant. Pursue and destroy that ship."

Just as that was going on up above Green was in her cockpit and all closed up, helmet and gauntlets on, ready to rock. "We good back there?" Cosmo gave the affirmative. "Angle power to engines and shields. Here we go." Lifting off and raising her landing gear Ro pushed her accelerator and shot from the warehouse at breakneck speed. "S-foils in attack position!" Her X-wings split apart and provided four wings instead of two, giving her better maneuverability in atmosphere. She turned right sharply, keeping her ship low to the terrain. "Whoa!" she yelled out. "This thing really moves, holy shit!" Having lost her focus a moment it returned instantly as bolts of green death energy whizzed passed her fighter as she maneuvered to try and lose them. Angling towards the Jundland Wastes Green was going to use Beggar's Canyon to try and lose these folks.

Zigzagging as she went to avoid enemy fire Green saw the opening to Beggar's Canyon and flew right into it, the dust and sand billowing up and behind her as she went as low as possible to avoid letting both have a chance to shoot at her. Reaching out with, well, The Force, Green 'felt' her way along the canyon, knowing when to jank and when to jink, when to turn and when not to. Up ahead was a large butte of solid rock, with a smaller tower of stone just next to it. There was a gap between them and Green felt it would be safe to fly through it. At the last moment she turned her fighter on its side as she closed her S-foils, missing the stone on either side by mere centimeters. The TIE directly behind her did not fair as well, his fighter impacting the stone and exploding. Another dark spot on a canyon wall.

With one gone Ro pulled back on her stick and climbed. "Power to aft shields and weapons." Cosmo complied as she streaked through the atmosphere and manuevered to avoid being hit. Cosmo began to talk excitedly. "I know, I know, I see them!" Having reached the stratosphere Rogue saw another dozen TIEs headed her way from the right, but out of range. She rolled left and accelerated. "Can we light speed skip?" Cosmo said yes. "Do it! Let's get out of here."

Her pursuer was too far behind her to get sucked into the hyper jump with her so Cosmo activated the hyperspace motivator and they shot out of existance. Maintaining for one minute Cosmo then dropped to sub-light. "Okay, buddy, I need to find these Jadi people. Any ideas?" There was a few bleeps. "Coruscant, eh? Show me a chart." A holographic galactic map popped up and Green took in a slight breath. This galaxy was massive compared to the Milky Way, almost three times the size. She got herself under control. "Okay, where are we?" A blip appeared. "And, where are we going?" Another blip, this time yellow compared to her red blip. "That is way far away. How long will the jump take?" Cosmo gave his answer. "Eighteen hours? Are you serious? Back home that could take months." More warbles. "Alright, Buddy, set a course. I'll meditate and catch some Z's. Wake me if there are problems." Green snuggled her butt and body in her rather comfortable seat and laid her head back, going into a meditative trance...

Rogue's quarters on the Dora coalesced in front of her, with Cosmo on the carpet at her feet. She didn't know if she would ever get used to this body switching. But, the technology in the other galaxy had a few things she would love to try and bring over here. "I need a shower." Off she went to her room.
