Mission: Rescue On Romulus
Location: Amandora
Timeline: Before Dinner

{Main Shuttle Bay}

After meeting the Romulan Delegates, James looked over at Jamie " So Commander looks like your the new kid on the block....I'm Lieutenant James McTavish the Science Chief" he stated with his hand stretched out.

Shaking his hand "Lieutenant, I'm Commander Jamie O'Connell the new Second Officer....nice to meet you" he replied with a smile.

"It's nice to meet you as well" James said "Say since we have some time before dinner starts how would you like to grab a drink....I'm sure you could use a friend since you're new here."

O'Connell thought for a moment "Actually I could go for a drink right about now....you know what they say....it's five o'clock somewhere" he replied with a grin.

{Main Lounge}

The two Officers walked into the Lounge and sat at the Bar as Jamie looked around "Man this place is huge compared to my previous Ship....matter of fact the whole Ship is almost four times the size of the Indy" he stated.

James chuckled "Yes she's good size for sure. So whats your pleasure Commander" James asked.

"Irish Whiskey and please call me Jamie.....I'm not on duty" Jamie replied with a grin.

"I might have known you'd drink that....being Irish and all...and you can call me James" he said with a chuckle.

"And here we are an Irishman and a Scott having a drink together...who would have guessed it" Jamie replied with a laugh.

"Ya really" James stated "So Jamie what did you do on your last Ship considering you're a Commander" as he took a sip of his drink.

After taking a long sip of his drink "Well....I started out as the Engineering Chief on the Independence for about a year then Captain Ellis offered me the position of XO, since she had lost her XO, with the rank of Commander which I did until Star Fleet decided to give the entire Crew the boot for a new Crew" Jamie explained with some sarcasm in his voice.

"Ouch....that must have really sucked having to leave your Ship" James commented never had gone through anything like that himself.

"Yes, I was offered the position of Second Officer and am able to keep my rank" Jamie replied "But since it's not a stand alone position I'm also going to be the new Assistant Security/Tactical Chief as well."

"One things for sure....your going to be busy" James commented "So Jamie any lady or ladies in your life."

O'Connell just smiled "Actually I was married to a wonderful women about six months ago just before the Indy got the axe" he explained "And you?"

"I've been married for about three years to a Irish women. Her name is Heather and she's aboard as the Head of Biology" James replied.

Jamie couldn't help himself and began to laugh "Now that's funny" he commented "My wife's first name is Heather too....Heather Devroe-O'Connell to be exact."

James grinned then chuckled "Ok...now that's a little strange to say the least" he replied "So where is your Heather now, if I may ask."

"Star Fleet granted her some time off to go back to Betazed to visit her family since she hasn't seen them in years and also to tell them she's married" O'Connell explained "Once we get back into Federation space then she'll join me here on the Amandora."

"That makes sense....Heather and I returned home to see our parents on Earth last year for a few days" James stated "So what will she be doing once she gets here."

"Star Fleet has approved her to work as an Infiltration Specialist, and promoted her to Lieutenant JG, since she minored in Covert Ops at the Academy and holds a Master rating in several of the Martial Arts" he explained.

"Wow....remind me not to get on her bad side" James said with a grin.

"Heather is very good at what she does...matter of fact she literally saved my life....but that's a story for another time" Jamie said then looking at the time "Say I better be going and get ready for the Dinner....it was nice to chat with you James McTavish.

"And you as well Jamie O'Connell....once your Wife is on board the four of us should get together one evening and have dinner. I'm sure my Heather would love to meet yours" James suggested.

"That sounds like a good idea...we need to make friends since we'll probably be here for a long time" Jamie replied then stood and left to go and get ready for the Dinner.

James made his way back to their Quarters to get ready while thinking along the way "O'Connell's not a bad guy for an Irishman" then he grinned....maybe a new friend.
