Mission: Rescue On Romulus

With the ship away from Romulus and back in Federation Space, the rescue mission over and Alesha safe back on the ship Tara could relax, to say she’d been concerned for her Amazon friends was an understatement. It had been years since she’d been that close to Romulans and to be honest she didn’t want to be that close to them anytime soon. Memories of the war and what had happened to her mother and to Marlaina still weighed heavily on her. Her home planet attacked, ancient structures destroyed or so badly damaged they had to e torn down. Fighters from both sides left to rust in the jungles and on a couple of the moons. Suddenly needing to talk to her cousin Tara headed for sick bay knowing Kristian would be there.

Kristian was cleaning things up after the successful joining, putting the surgical bay back in order. She was nearly done when the doors to sick bay opened. Seeing her cousin walk in Kristian grinned at the look of relief on Tara’s face. Walking over to her Kristian reverted to the Amazon language “You look reliefed. You okay?”

Tara nodded “I am now, we’re free of Romulan Space and I don’t have to deal with them anymore.”

“Let’s go into my office,” Kristian said leading the way. Once in there she nodded to a chair. Taking a seat at her desk she looked at her cousin for a few minutes before saying anything “You know Princess you do have the authority to begin treaty talks with them”

Tara shook her head,” I don’t want to. You and I both have signed documents on file that our titles are on hold. This is a matter for my parents and the powers back home. I can’t and won’t cross the line between Starfleet and our people.”

“I do understand, but in the same sense Tara we have some high ranking Romulans aboard and who better to start the talks with?” Kristian asked “You know I’m right.”

Tara shook her head “I know but I don’t want to cross that line. Do you have any idea how relieved I was to get away from Romulus and back into Federation Space and how nervous I was when Alesha went to that moon with Nix and flew into the very cavern my mum was held in, then she took Commander Green to the moon and brought Nix back only to return to the moon again? “

“I know believe me I understand. Do you think we’ll ever have a treaty with the Romulan Empire?” Kristian asked

“I don’t know, dad and mum keep saying we do but that’s as far as it ever goes,” Tara commented

“Why don’t we go get a drink,” Kristian suggested “We both could use it,”

“You must have read my mind,” Tara said getting to her feet as the two cousins walked from sick bay.
