Mission: Rescue On Romulus
Location: Ready Room
Timeline: current

ON:

Cyndi had retreated to her ready room, opened the drawer on her desk and pulled out a bottle of red wine and poured a glass. Looking out at the outpost the ship was now in orbit of several things ran through her mind. The ship needed a first officer. One name kept coming to mind. Taking a sip of her wine Cyndi tapped her com-badge "Commander Green please report to my ready room."

Green had been out teasing and jawing with one of the tactical ensigns, some of what was said being saucy but not offensive. So, as her name got called Green walked toward the ready room, going through the door as she said over her shoulder. "It feels much better than it looks." then the door shut and she realized she had said that in front of her CO. She looked embarrassed. "Sorry, Sir. Those unruly Bridge officers out there," she thumbed back over her shoulder. "Might be prone to mutiny."

Cyndi turned from the window "Thank you for coming. There is something I'd like to discuss with you. I need a first officer. Do you have any recommendations?"

"Hmm." Green stood and thought as she crossed her arms over her chest and played with her chin. "We just got this O'Connell guy. And, Chief Engineers usually make good XO's, so there is always that choice." Her arms dropped. "I don't know, there's a lot of qualification in the department heads."

Cyndi nodded "They do indeed, Commander O'Connell is a fine officer. But I have someone else in mind, O'Connell is good but he does not know this crew or the ship. Granted he did a hell of a job when we were boarded to get us clear of Romulan space. But he does not know the ship or crew that well."

Ro could feel Cyndi being shifty, knowing now exactly what she was saying and who she meant. So, she played along. "I think Nira would do well as XO. All of us already know she would liquidate anyone who mucked with you. So, you get a co-leader and a bodyguard. Not bad." She gave a cynical grin.

Cyndi shook her head "I hate bodyguard why do you think I joined Starfleet? I want you as XO, That is if you want it? It comes with a promotion to full commander. Just be warned I can be stubborn,"

Green's face lit up with a smile forming. "Hell yes I'll accept." Said Ro. "I'm humble, Cyndi, but damn. How could I not be happy about this? And, for the record, I own my fair share of stubborn."

"Then we'll get along well," Cyndi grinned as she handed her the gold pip "Congratulations commander. I knew you'd accept we've been through a lot together over the years."

"That we have," agreed Green. "But, new Amandora means new adventures. Hopefully our next assignment is a survey mission, or attending a Science conference on a deep space station. I could do with a little 'easy' in our jobs from time to time."

"That we all could, this has been hard, losing Kahn was not what I needed. But I am proud of the Amazon officers. Despite the feelings toward the Romulans they didn't let it interfere with things. I do know the hostilities between them are something their government needs to deal with.," Cyndi commented.

Green gave a knowing smile. "I have an idea for that. I'm still working it out in my head so when I streamline the approach then I'll set things in motion. Even if I have to take Tara in a Delta Flyer myself."

"Getting Herculoid into Romulan space will not be easy," Cyndi commented.

"No doubt." Green's brain had already switched gears to what she was now. "If I may, Commodore. I would like to put Commander O'Connell in the position of security chief. His records speaks volumes to his qualifications. Plus, he's level-headed and pragmatic."

"That's fine," Cyndi agreed "He's a good officer and I'm lucky to have him."

The door chime sounded.

"Come in," Cyndi called.

An Ensign in Science blue and Lt. Silk entered the CO's office. They stopped inside once the door shut and Silk nodded to his side at the woman. "Commodore, Commander, this is Ensign Zenni Kahn. She is eerily well-adjusted to her joining so I am escorting her in case she flips out suddenly."

Green looked the woman up and down. She had to hand it to Kahn, that Symbiont always got good looking hosts. "Welcome aboard, Ensign."

"Welcome ensign," Cyndi greeted. "I'm sure the joining is going to take getting used to."

Zenni looked like the cat who had swallowed the canary, standing stock still and clasped her hands behind her back so she could fidget with her fingers and not get seen. In a word, she was nervous. "Thank you, both. My counseling courses have aided me in keeping it together, so far. I just...I just need to know where you are assigning me so I can get to work and use that as a distraction."

That's when Silk noticed. "Commander pips? Damn, Ro, you're moving right along."

"It was her idea," Green nodded her head Cyndi's way. "Who was I to say no. The Commodore has been trusting enough to grant me XO."

"Congratulations." That came from Silk and Kahn in stereo.

"I owe Ro a lot and making her my Exec is my way of saying thank you," Cyndi said "I'm going to assign you to be chief counselor and a secondary in science. I'm also going to adjust your rank to that of lieutenant junior grade."

The look of utter shock on Kahn's face was not hidden. "What?!" Her hands fell to her sides and her nerves seemed to have been replaced by the shock. "Wait, that came out sounding bad. What I mean is, are you serious, Commodore? That is, well, totally unexpected. You have my gratitude."

"Zenni, you saved a life and made it a part of your own," stated Green. "That grants, at minimum, a black pip. Congratulations, Lieutenant."

"Grats, kiddo." Said Silk.

"Yes I'm sure," Cyndi replied as she opened her desk drawer and removed the black pip "Commander Green as your first official duty as XO would you care to do the honors?"

Ro took the pip and approached Zenni, fiddling with her collar until the black pip was now a next to the gold. She clasped Kahn's hand and gave it a firm, friendly shake. "Welcome to the Amandora, Zenni. And, pardon me but," Green released the hand and that quickly wrapped Zenni in a warm hug, rubbing her back. "For Kahn, welcome back." She stepped back and straightened herself as Kahn did the same.

Zenni had raised her arms nervously and lightly patted Commander Green's back. The hug was awesome and made her feel better but, with the joining messing with her she found it kind of creepy, too. "Okay, so, we're done bothering you. I need to retake all my certifications so I'll be scarce for about 24 hours. Then, get my office in order so people can begin to come see me." She turned her body facing Silk, which also faced the door. "Mister Silk, you are first on my list for random crew sessions."

"See, Commodore? You gave her an inch now she thinks she's a ruler." Said Silk, shaking his head.

"It goes without saying that Doctor Long should get reports as she is the chief medical officer. You'll need quarters," Cyndi picked up a PADD and handed it to her "This is your quarter assignment and access code to get in. Change it once you get there. My officers know my door is always open if you need anything. I should tell you too I'm a scientist as well. You'll see me in the lab when my schedule permits it and my husband doesn't need me," Cyndi replied.

"Sounds good. I usually claim a tertiary lab and set it up for myself. If not in my office-quarters I'll be there or drinking." Zenni gave a smile. "Thank you again, everyone. But, I need to get my quarters..." she stopped at her first step then got standing right again. "Commander, do you need me to gather Liza's belongings and store them? They are your quarters now."

Green hadn't thought of that. "Please. A lot of that stuff is Kahn as much as Liza. And, you're dismissed when ready, Lieutenant Kahn. Mister Silk, dismissed." The two who had arrived together left together. "Seems we're mending some holes. Good to see."

"It is at that, I like her, she's going to be an asset to things," Cyndi said once they'd left her ready room.

"As your new XO I better get to it." Said Green. "I have a few things to resolve before diving into the paperwork. Take care, Cyndi." Ro walked out with a determined gait.
