#12 A Casual Flight
Posted on Thu Jul 21st, 2022 @ 6:26pm by Lieutenant JG Jamie T. Kirk/AKA: "Jim" & Captain Sean Silk
Mission:
McKinley Outpost
Location: Delta 5
Timeline: current
ON:
As a CO for her own Away Team, which she designated as team two, Kirk had gathered Silk to herself and boarded Delta 5. After going through pre-flight, and before receiving word about more passengers, Jamie Kirk had launched and did an end-around to avoid the nacelles of Amandora. Delta 5 had pseudo-scars, scratches and dents, looking to have been owned by for several years by someone with barely enough gold-pressed latinum to keep the ship flyable. But, that was the idea. She was in a flat black leather shirt coat beneath which she wore a belly shirt that was dark green in color. The pants were form fitting combat fatigues and her boots were old Starfleet issue combat boots for tactical units. Yep, even her outfit looked pieced together from what she could find as a 'freight bum'.
Jamie T. Kirk was no fool, and the meeting had left a lot of unknowns. Once again here they were flying in blind. Getting the infiltrators on the ground quickly and unseen seemed the right thing to do considering they were looking for criminals and 'road agents'. But, it got shot down which was fine. She and Silk would do what she had originally planned; go down, act like a trader, see about delivering a cargo for someone below. And, for trade she would show up with 2 cargo units of Starfleet medpacs to barter with, fully authorized by Commander Green. Once Kirk got landed on a pad then she would beam the Security and Marines to Delta 5, two at a time, until they were all there. Furthermore, Delta 5 would be known as SS Maui for the duration of her stay down below, with Strategic Operations making sure that the SS Maui was added to the Federation database, and that Kirk was shown to be a Starfleet officer who got busted and then released from service.
Silk sat just behind Kirk's head at the main tactical/sci station. He casually tapped keys and had the scanners on passive to gather data for review at a later time. He wore a dark blue T-shirt over which he had on a short jacket of his own. He wore standard black fatigue pants, making no secret of the sidearm he carried on the right thigh and the k-bar that was on his left. He was Kirk's partner and gaurdian, what he was hired for according to the fake resume provided by Starfleet. He kpet glancing at the back and top of Kirk's head, what with her being in the pilot's seat which was forward and downward into the nose fo the craft. She had a perfect view for piloting out the forward viewport. "Passive scans are detecting an orbital facility. About the size of the outposts along the Romulan N-Z. Something tells me we'll get sent that way."
"No doubt," answered Kirk, sipping raktajino in a thermomug and watching her flight panel. "Another forty-three minutes and we'll be approaching the atmosphere directly over the metropolis. Are we being scanned?"
"I'm sure they have us on passive, but nothing active just yet." Responded Sean.
Kirk gave a nod more to herself. "Keep an eye on it. I'll maintain 'steady as she goes'." She smiled to herself at that before taking another sip. Maui, otherwise known as Delta 5, continued her flight trajectory towards the planet and the main city below.
