Cyndi after seeing the report for four marines and four security officers per shuttle and carrying phase rifles had her concerned. Heading for the security chief;s office Cyndi walked in and looked for O'Connell. Seeing him "Commander can we talk about the security your planning for the away teams?"

Jamie looked up from his work and saw Cyndi and instantly stood out of respect " Commodore what a pleasant surprise....yes...please by all means have a seat" he stated as he waited for her to sit first "Can I get you anything to drink" he asked as he sat "What are your concerns about the security for the away teams."

Cyndi took the offered seat "Thank you no on anything to drink. I've had so much coffee that I feel like I could float. My concerns are the amount of armed security per shuttle. The report I read is four security and four marines per shuttle making it a total of eight armed personal and even included phase rifles. Is that much really necessary? We don't even know if there is a threat here yet or if Brisco is here."

Jamie was a little surprised by what Cyndi had just said then smiled "Commodore my apologies for any confusion; but what 2nd Lieutenant West and I agreed upon was two Security along with two Marines for each Shuttle" he explained then continued " However we could dispense with the rifles if you wish."

"I don't think rifles are needed, at least not yet. I'd also like the marines and security to be more low key and not brandishing weapons. We're here to open trade negations and yes to find out if there is something shady going on. But we go down there brandishing weapons it's likely to get the people on the outpost the wrong idea. If there is something shady going on then that will be addressed and we need to find out if that report is true," Cyndi commented "Am I making sense?"

The Commander thought for a moment "Yes Commodore you make perfect sense....we'll loose the rifles and I'll have the Security Teams conceal their phasers from sight" he replied then grinned "I guess I need to think more like a Second Officer and less like a Security Chief."

Cyndi grinned "Your both so I understand. I hope there is nothing shady going on here. Rivers did a grid scan and found a cave under the outpost with no apparent way in she also reported it not being big enough to house a shuttle but she also reported it shielded same with the moon. Her theory is due to the iron core on the moon. I'm going to send Herculoid down to open talks and she'll run scans while she's there."

"Well, since in the Briefing you mentioned everyone going in twos, would you want Lieutenant JG Devroe to tag along....she could use more field experience...but that of course is up to you" Jamie concluded "And she was a Science Officer when we first met years ago."

"That will be fine, I'd feel better if no one goes alone just in case there is a problem. I'm going to be meeting Razor in a bit and then send Herculoid down," Cyndi commented.

"Yes I heard that Lieutenant Herculoid was also going to be a diplomat when needed. That could open up a new career path for her if she's willing" Jamie commented "I for one don't have the patience for something like that" then he chuckled.

"She's still assistant science chief but in some diplomatic areas she's well suited," Cyndi replied

"Star Fleet can always use another good Diplomat; It's certainly better than armed conflict any time" Jamie replied.

"And like me she's well suited for it," Cyndi commented "I've taken enough of your time, just make sure the marines and your people understand concealed weapons, no body armor and no phase rifles not unless we need them," Cyndi said getting to her feet

O'Connell stood as well "Understood Commodore....I'll let West know right away and I'll bring my Staff up to speed also" Jamie replied.

"Thank you commander," Cyndi replied
