After the couple slept in for a bit they showered, dressed, and packed up their duffels. Jamie headed to the kitchen to make brunch and also put the coffee on.

Shortly Heather walked out into the kitchen "What smells so good" she queried with a smile.

"Scrambled eggs with melted sharp cheese, crispy bacon, and english muffins with jam" Jamie replied "Oh ya there's coffee too."

They each fixed their plates and grabbed a coffee then sat at the table enjoying their meal. While Jamie was eating he opened the letter from O'Brian and looked it over then passed it over to Heather "Read this and tell me what you think" he commented.

Heather read it over then looked at Jamie "This sounds reasonable, what do you think" she asked.

"I thought the same thing....we're getting quite a lot for our money...I say we keep him on" Jamie replied.

"Agreed" Heather stated "I think we'd be hard pressed to find someone else considering we won't be around most of the time. Besides his fee seems fair."

Jamie nodded in agreement as he signed the letter then had Heather sign it also since this was a joint venture.

Afterwards they cleaned up the Cottage and made sure everything was in it's place when Jamie's Comm went off. He looked at Heather "That can't be the Ship....not this far out" he stated then tapped his Comm "Commander O'Connell here."

"Mr. O'Connell this is O'Brian....I was just wondering when you folks will be leaving so I can come over and take care of a few things" O'Brian replied.

"Probably in an hour or two" Jamie stated "How did you know how to get ahold of me."

"A friend of mine used to be in Star Fleet and he has a lot of the Comm codes, so I guess I just got lucky" he explained "Also Ms Ellis set up an account for the house so there's enough money in there to pay me for the next year besides extra for food and repairs."

Jamie chuckled "I'm not sure Star Fleet would approve but I'm fine with it. If you give me the account information I'll make sure you have more than enough in the way of funds" he replied "And by the way we would like you to remain as our Caretaker also."

After a brief silence "That would be my pleasure, you seem like nice folks" he commented then gave Jamie the account information.

Jamie looked over at Heather "Can you believe Mystery, making sure there is enough money for the next year" he commented.

Heather just grinned "Well I guess you can afford to do that on a Captain's pay; besides being on Ship where are you going to spend your money anyway."

Jamie chuckled "Fair point" he replied "Well I guess we should get a move on before they send out security looking for us."

"I suppose so" she said then looking around wishing they could just stay.

After the house was secured the couple boarded the Shuttle and performed the usual routine then Jamie piloted the ship making their way back to the Star Base.

There was an awkward silence for awhile when Jamie commented "You're awfully quiet....everything alright" he asked wanting to know what was on her mind.

Heather let out a sigh "Can I ask you a serious question"

He was a little surprised by her query "Of course, you can ask me anything...you know that" came the reply.

"Do you think we're wasting our lives being in Star fleet....I mean it's always duty first and us second" she stated.

Jamie thought for a few moments "I tell you what.....any time you want to call it quits with Star Fleet...you just say the word and I'll resign my commission" he replied with a smile.

"You'd do that for me" she asked then said "Let me think about it for awhile and I'll let you know."

"Sweetheart I would do anything or go anywhere to make you happy....you are my life" he stated as he grabbed her hand and kissed it.

Heather smiled "I know you would Jamie and that's why I love you so much."
