Mission: Zaris Three
[Zaris 3]
As Hurd and men made ready to breech what served as a Control Room on the first floor, he heard a loud boom, loud enough to shake the compound. Trusting West and his Men, Hurd tapped his comm badge and said, "Hurd to West, preparing to breech Control Room, status?"
[Outside]
West tapped his comm badge as he ducked a barrage of pulse phaser blasts, dirt erupting from the ground in a shower. "So far so good, Major!" He was shouting and Hurd could hear the sounds of battle. "One anti-aircraft gun is down, the other is in progress...I hope. We got a few more minutes before they retreat back inside the compound. I suggest you haul ass...sir."
He returned fire indiscriminately, then rasped. "They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. Worked that out myself."
[Compound]
Hurd chuckled and replied, "I know that, already eliminated seven enemy combatants, no prisoners thus far." Looking over at the two men wiring the door, Hurd smiled and said, "West, we are breeching in five seconds."
[Outside]
Trace counted down five and heard a small whump from inside the complex.
[Compound]
Pulling the manual release on the door, Hurd shouted "GO GO GO!". Hurd and his men flew into the control center. Exchanging fire with the combatants, two of Hurd's men were cut down.
[Outside]
Outside, West had had enough patience waiting to hear back from Winston and his men. "Jenkins, Williams, with me!" He shouted, and the three of them made their way to the South side of the compound. He could see that Winston's men remained in their position, and cursed under his breath. The faced heavy fire trying to gain ground on the southern anti-aircraft cannon, but eventually they succeeded. The Major General had a lot to answer for.
[Compound]
Hurd ducked behind a console, .45 in hand, and said, "Hurd to West, I need medics, I have two men down". Hurd stood, and started taking shots, dowing two of the enemy. Hurd started to turn to take out the last one, but before he could, he took direct hits. His Armour took the first, the second cut clean through, slicing into his arm Screaming in agony, Hurd managed to take down the final attacker Slamming his hand over the wound, trying to stop the bleeding, Hurd cried out to West.
"West, Hurd said in a pained voice, "Control room secured, Hostages Secure, we have several prisoners, I. Have two men down, bad", Hurd tried to stop himself, but he screamed in pain, "I'm hit bad, we need help".
[Outside]
West cursed under his breath. "Jenkins, Williams, Caruthers with me!" He shouted, and headed into the compound. Crimson beams of light pulsed into two guards, knocking them back against the wall and rendering them unconscious.
The four of them reached the control room in short order, catching the guards that had Hurd and his men pinned down in a pincer maneuver. They went down quick, and West gave the all clear.
"How you doing, Major?" He said, beckoning the medic Caruthers over.
"I'm in pain", Hurd said through gritted teeth. "Closing his tighter over the wound, he added, "I m bleeding out".
"Well now," Trace said, "That don't hardly seem worse than a scratch." Caruthers ran the medical tricorder over Hurd and nodded.
"Last shot hit an artery." He said, grabbing a laser scalpel. Using the tricorder he found the artery, and went in to suture the wound without so much as a how do you do. "Bleeding is stopped, but he'll need a bio bed in short order." Caruthers said.
West leaned down and helped Hurd up throwing his arm over his shoulder.
"Jenkins, you're responsible for the hostages. Williams, take point and lead us out of here. We'll make for the South tower. Let's move out."
