BUGS OH NO!!

Jamie T. Kirk had whisked Delta 5 away from the Amandora as fast as the little ship would go at sublight. The aft view monitor showed the impact on the Amandora, with the plasma torpedo, essentially a ball of fire, slicing through the shields and doing measurable damage in one shot. But, she had no time to reflect on that. With the mother ship between the enemy and the freighter Kirk angled her ship back to the drifting cargo vessel. Using her consale she specifically aimed at speaking to Thoros. Activating the comm as she piloted 'Jim' Kirk maneuvered to come in beneath the freighter. "Kirk to Thoros. Are you still alive over there?"
[ For the most part. The radiation level is very high.] replied Thoros.
"I still have Bjorgo and the refugees aboard," explained Kirk. "Amandora is in the middle of a fight, Lieutenant. We're coming back your way and I'll be landing inside the ventral cargo bay. Meet us there and get your butt out of the radiation for a time. This freighter will now be our starship and we need to get it moving somehow. I have Commander Green's droid, Cosmo, aboard. Tell him what you need and he can do it for you and not be affected by the radiation."
As she spoke Kirk watched out the viewport and tapped keys, committing an override to the freighter cargo bay doors. They slid open and she ascended up and into the hold, the doors closing below her ship which she landed on. Ambient radiation in this hold was far less severe and did not require a suit for a while. Still, getting rads on all her lady parts did not appeal to Kirk so she would keep the suit on for now. "We've just landed in the bay, Thoros. I can beam you here. Radiation levels are nominal."
Hearing nothing in return Kirk began to worry for the first time since this whole fiasco started. If the radiation was as bad as he said it was then it could be shorting out his communicator. She moved to the back with Bjorgo and the ten people squeezed into the back.
"They've all been inoculated, Skipper." Bjorgo informed her of passenger status the moment she came in. His use of 'skipper' was in show for her running this small ship and being in charge of the away mission.
"The radiation in the bay is minimal, Doctor." Said Kirk, needing to get these people off of the Delta for their own safety. If Amandora called for assistance then she would have to respond. "We are still in conflict with the pirates, folks. I hate to say it but we need you to hole-up here on the freighter, in this bay..."
Cosmo rolled up next to her and kept bumping her leg insistently. She looked down as she raised a hand for momentary pause to the refugees. "What, Cosmo?" The little droid bleeped and warbled. "Get on it. Also, while out there, begin radiation clean-up of all the affected decks and more importantly, find Lieutenant Thoros." Cosmo acknowledged the directives as Bjorgo opened the aft hatch with forcefield in place. He rolled out and down the ramp and off across the cargo bay.
"I like that little machine," said Bjorgo.
Kirk finished speaking to the refugees, who all agreed to hunker down in the cargo hold, the look of fear and uncertainty on their faces. "I promise you, all of you, you will survive this."
Bjorgo had gathered a medpack not a medkit. The pack was a backpack filled with seventy pounds of medical equipment and medications, all broken down for quick field use. Going out to the hold he began to administer anti-radiation doses, including himself and Kirk. Though his tolerance still kept him out of danger Tore was not one to take chances. As the only physician available he needed to stay at the top of his game.
As Kirk rubbed her neck where the meds had been administered her comm went off, the familiar bleeps and warbles of Cosmo coming through. "What? Do you have transporter tags?"
"What?" Asked Bjorgo. "What did he say?"
"He found Thoros unconscious," Kirk explained. "Apparently he got the radiation under control but he's in the thick of it. Cosmo says his vitals are stable but that he is reaching his limit quickly."
"Beam him to the Delta, now!" Ordered Tore. "There's a small biobed in the aft I can work with to offset his rad count."
Jim gave a nod and relayed that to Cosmo. Going back into the craft Kirk activated the transporter and got Thoros beamed onto the bed. As soon as he appeared she put her own helmet back on before helping to remove the Klingon's. His suit would be doused in radiation and until they could scrub it clean Thoros was a radioactive disaster waiting to happen.
Bjorogo stepped in and thumbed towards the ramp. "Out, Ensign. I got this. Plus, being a Klingon, he'll most likely wake up swinging or ready to fight."
As the medical officer on scene Kirk had no choice but to obey medical directives. "Aye, Sir." Doing as she was told Kirk left the Delta and went back out to the refugees. As they sat there, and Kirk stood, her eyes looked to the medpack. Sitting atop it, opened, was the small pack of anti-radiation doses, 10cc's each, and a hypo. Grabbing the hypo Kirk tucked it into her belt and then took up several of the med cartridges and slid them into a belt pouch. She hit her comm. "Cosmo, have you started radiation clean-up?" He gave an affirmative. "Good. Engineering and Bridge first. Provide me a 'clean' path to the Bridge, please."
Cosmo once again acknowledged the orders and complied, voicing that Thoros had done a superb job getting the Dilithium chamber under control and getting the mains back on line.
"Keep the power levels where they are, for now. We don't need any attention our way until we can move this crate." Ordered Kirk. She got another affirmative as she headed for the exit door to enter the freighter proper. Stopping, Kirk waited for Cosmo to give her a layout to follow to avoid too much radiation as the clean-up was working, and to follow the path he had created for her.
