#30 Preparing/Where is Cosmo?

Posted on Mon Nov 21st, 2022 @ 2:33pm by Captain Rogue Green {Meji} & Lieutenant JG Marcus Resch {Meji} & Lieutenant JG Jamie T. Kirk/AKA: "Jim"

Mission: BUGS OH NO!!
Location: various
Timeline: current/somewhere in between

ON:

Resch stood up from the command chair as the Commodore came out of the meeting. The others who had been with her all left the Bridge rather quickly. Things were about to get real. "Aye, Sir," he said as he stood and moved away.

Letting the Commodore have her place Marcus proceeded to the turbolift, and as he did so and stepped into the car he was already sending a shipwide text to all reader boards. "-Amandora is gearing up for the next confrontation. All damage control teams remain frosty, you will be needed in the hours to come. Out of 1,017 crew we have lost eleven (not knowing of Bjorgo, yet). No one else dies this day. Maintain your focus and stand firm in your beliefs as Starfleet personnel. We will overcome this event and grow as a crew, with our success being the way we honor those who have been lost. Unity. Resch, signing off.-"

Activating the message he sent it out and every reader board on the ship now had it pop up on the screen. Various personnel stopped to read the text, letting others know either what it said, or telling them to read it themselves. The ship was ready for another fight, if need be. No one had slacked during the down time for repairs and it showed. Certain systems were still in the amber, having been seen to but not enough time to completely repair every aspect. Bypasses were currently being put in place, to shunt power where needed through a different pathway, insuring greater success should those systems get damaged again.

Having done his job Resch finally exited the turbolift, which he had ridden during several trips by others, so caught up in his message writing that he had stood like an automaton. His goal was to lead a damage control team himself and was on his way to gather them.

While waiting aboard Delta 5, deep in thought for the coming confrontation, Green had a sudden epiphany. She sat up straight and looked forward and down at the top-back of Kirk's head. "Jim, what happened to Cosmo?"

~Oh shit~ thought Kirk as the query was asked. She spun her butt in her chair sidesaddle, looking back. "He has to be with Tore. He had found Mister Thoros unconscious and we beamed the Klingon to the Delta. Cosmo was still aboard and I had given him orders to start radiation clean-up. If he is anywhere, Commander, he is on that freighter."

The happiest of smiles was displayed on Ro's face, backed by a knowing look. "We have a key to the front door, then. If any being in this galaxy can get us inside that asteroid it's that little droid. So glad I built him." She gave a slight chuckle. "He's probably scared but doing what he thinks will help. He never stops during a crisis and can be kind of scatterbrained while doing it."

Kirk had to grin in return, giving a mirthful harumph. "I've noticed. He is a go-getter. Weird thing is I've developed an understanding of his electronic language. Came in handy while on mission together."

That caught Green's attention even though she kept herself casual. If Kirk had understood beeping and warbling, then it stood to reason that she may have developed an affinity to the Core. Perhaps she had been exposed to midichlorians at some time in her life and they took hold. Green had been studying midichlorians in the Milky Way, listed as an uneventful, uninteresting microbial life form. Most beings in this galaxy, for whatever reason, had a natural antibody defense against them, never knowing they had even been exposed, as if the Preservers had not wanted those abilities to be discovered until most species had evolved enough to understand them. To understand the Core. Food for thought, and further research. "You need a teacher."

Kirk scrunched her face. "A teacher? For what, Sir?"

"Come on," said Green, getting to her feet and waving Kirk over. She moved to an open area further in the aft portion of the Bridge. Closing her eyes once Kirk was before her Green reached out with the Core, encompassing the being known as Jamie Kirk, searching for that spark of life energy created by all living things, the Core energy of the Universe. There it was, a well of energy both strong and small. Untrained and raw. Her eyes opened and she gave a friendly grin. "The Core is within you, Jim. The question is; what do you want to do about it?"

"I haven't a friggin clue, Ro." Kirk responded as she had no clue how to even begin with this metaphysical discussion.

Ro took Kirk's hands in her own. "It starts by trusting your feelings. What you think is a gut feeling is actually, for you, the Core trying to inform you. It has awakened within you."

"Oh, great," said Kirk in a cynical way. "A power I don't understand, with the capacity to kill without touch? No thanks, I'll stick to the mundane."

"If that is your choice," Green responded. "I will not coerce you into anything. But," she glanced out the viewport as they sat parked between nacelles, seeing the fighters coming alongside. Her eyes came back to Kirk. "We have an asteroid to secure. Stations." Both women went back to their seats and got ready to move.
