Mission:
BUGS OH NO!!
Location: asteroid
Timeline: current
ON:
Cosmo led the three women through the shadowy corridors of the asteroid complex. He knew exactly where he was going and made sure to not go too fast so they wouldn't have to run to catch up. However, being sucked into a singularity just before its explosive conclusion was not on his to-do list this day, so he was hurrying as best he could so that they could stay with him. He warbled and bleeped. "This way, hurry. Two more turns and then the bridge." If they read their armbands they would know what he said. Then, it dawned on his super electronic brain. "Set your communicators for UT (universal translator) and you should understand me in Federation Basic (English)."
Tara and Alesha switched their universal translators and nodded "We're good to go," Alesha said drawing her weapon
"Lead on" Tara said as she drew her own phaser.
Kirk was bringing up the rear, watching behind them just in case. The last thing they needed was a surprise attack from more Gorn. She did grin to herself when Cosmo suggested the UT...something she had never thought of.
Cosmo turned again and there was the bridge ahead, through the long hallway, the singularity drive lit up to full power in the center and causing a steady power glow to light up the area. At this point, seeing as they were behind him to follow, Cosmo rolled forward as fast as his little rolling body could move him. Getting to the circular center piece Cosmo began to remove an access cover with the arms and tools built into him, trying to get to an interface so he could see what they were up against on a time scale.
Kirk picked up the pace when she saw Cosmo hurry along. "There it is, ladies. Let's get this done." Off in the distance, in the hallway directly opposite from the one they were in, they could hear the raging battle of sabers. Neither Green nor her enemy could be seen.
"I don't like what I'm hearing," Alesha said
"Neither do I, but we have a job to do and the sooner we get it done the better. Then we can go see what is going on down there," Tara replied.
Kirk, for whatever reason, could 'feel' the battle raging as she stood there like a statue, her eyes on the long, dark corridor beyond this circular central platform. Across another dark bridge.
Cosmo's male computer voice came through their badges. "I have the schematic. I will send to your PADDs and tricorders. We have to shut down certain power circuits in order or it will destabilize the singularity. Miss Rivers, Miss Herculoid, if you will, please." Cosmo could see that Miss Kirk was distracted with what was going on with his Master and her opponent.
In her mind Kirk heard Ro's voice, and it was weak, even in her mind. That was when Jim also realized that the saber sounds had ceased. {Jim, she is coming back to you. Trust your feelings and trust the Core. Let it guide you and don't be afraid!} Jim got her rifle ready, and like Green said, she began to try and pull in the Core. "Hurry up, guys," she said as she kept watch down the other hallway. "Commander Green says that this Jynxza is on her way back to us."
"Then we need to hurry, get this shut down before she gets here and then we need to find Commander Green and Dr. Bjorgo," Tara said
"It's too quiet," Alesha said turning to watch behind them "When things are this quiet it's never a good thing. HURRY!"
Cosmo directed the two women to shut down one power circuit at a time, in the order necessary, and with a final thrum the device went dark and quiet. "Done! We can flee now. The singularity collapsed upon itself and is no longer a threat."
"Good," said Kirk, her voice and eyes having a faraway quality to them. Off in the shadows she saw a lump off to one side of the other bridge. Moving forward slowly Jim kept her rifle at the ready, getting close enough to see Doctor Bjorgo, with his teral'n buried in his chest. She tapped her combadge. "Bjorgo's dead, his body is here." Then, like a wave of freezing air coursing over her body she became acutely aware of danger. Ahead, in the darkened hallway, a crimson saber ignited and with its eerie red glow could be seen the Overseer.
"What have we here," asked Jynxza, her face contorted with an evil grin and a cynical expression. "A gem in the rough?"
"I'll rough your gem!" Kirk retorted and went to aim her rifle true when it was yanked from her hands and sent flying into the abyss below them. There was nowhere to go, the bridge being fifteen meters wide, but with where she was and the others behind her, Jim knew they wouldn't have a clear shot. So, nothing for it, Kirk took hold of the saber given her by Green, holding it awkwardly as she ignited the green blade. That caused her to jump a little, the snap-hiss unusual to her ears.
The jump was all Alesha needed, her rifle on heavy stun fired at Jynxza, "The only gem here is you!" she yelled as she fired at Jynxza.
"Tara dove behind a console and fired as well, "You'll regret killing Dr. Bjorgo! Alesha!" Tara motioned over head.
Alesha seeing Tara's overhead look nodded and fired on the ceiling.
Tara fired again on Jynxza.
Jynxza deflected some of the bolts and others she waved a hand and they went amiss, hitting the stone cold walls with little effect. The sustained fire was becoming irritating but, before Jynx could counterattack the Gem rushed forward with her saber in hand, risking being shot herself to try and impale her enemy. Jynxza had no choice but to block the incoming saber, but with this woman in the way the others had to stop firing or hit them both.
Cosmo peeked around the circular console. "I'll go prepare the Delta for liftoff, then beam the Doctor and Master Ro aboard. She has not followed Jynxza, so I am worried." He turned and began to roll away with all due speed.
"Tara hold your fire, we can't hit Kirk in cross fire!" Alesha called.
"Get back to your fighter, Kirk and I can hold her off long enough for Cosmo to get to the Delta and you to your fighter," Tara said standing and walking forward knowing the danger she'd just put herself in. Setting her phaser on a narrow beam and bringing it to full power and took aim again at the ceiling and fired again hoping to drop enough rocks on Jynxza to give them time to get away.
Alesha seeing what Tara was doing did the same with her rifle, setting it to a narrow beam she too fired overhead "I'm not going to run!"
Jynxza had kept the pressure on, blade to blade as they crackled, moving her blade this way and that as she made sure that this Gem would get hit no matter who fired at her. "Walk back with me, Gem. Only you can save your precious Commander Green." Just then a section of the rock ceiling came free and fell, striking Kirk and Jynx both. Though the Overseer had been hit the rocks seemed to bounce off of her far more than they did Kirk. The Gem took a chunk of rock to the head and dropped to the deck as her saber closed down. Jynxza doused her own blade and then used the Core to create darkness so thick one could almost feel, covering her retreat as it hid her from view as she turned and made her way from the core complex.
Kirk had tried to draw on the Core to add strength, and it seemed to work. But, she had no idea how to gauge it. In her mind she knew this Jynxza could have killed her at any time, but did not. That was when it began to rain stone from above and she glanced up just as a fist sized stone smack her on her forehead at the hairline and above the right temple. Blackness engulfed her.
Swearing Tara holstered her weapon, activated a light she's brought and ran to check on Kirk, finding a pulse, picking her up Tara slung Kirk over her shoulder
"Let's go Alesha, she needs medical attention. Once we're back with the Delta and your fighter Cosmo will beam the commander and the doctor's body aboard.
"Damn Romulan," Alesha hissed "She turned out the damn lights in here. Give me your light and I'll lead the way. We have to hurry!"
The sounds of engines and repulsorlifts filled the corridor where the team had come from, as did bright flood lights. Cosmo had tied himself into the controls, using the ship's viewer image to see where he was going. The corridors were massive enough, wide and tall enough, for him to maneuver the Delta through them. As he made the last turn he lit up the bridge and hallway, seeing Alesha, Tara and Kirk coming his way, with Kirk being carried. Spinning the Delta around he then dropped the aft hatch/ramp even as he activated the transporter. Bjorgo's body appeared on the biobed and Green appeared on the deck in the aft section of the ship, clutching her chest as she continued to heal herself, laying on her side in a fetal position.
"I'll get to my fighter, Cosmo get them back to the Amandora, I'll bring up the rear and cover you, she can't hit what she can't see," Alesha said
Tara laid Kirk on the floor next to Green as Alesha ran off to her fighter.
"Hang on commander," Tara said kneeling next to Green.
Green gave a nod and a half grin. "It's getting better, just taking a minute." Ro looked at Kirk's face and the bruising and cuts to her scalp, the blood still fresh enough to be coagulating but not drying. Forgetting herself for a moment Green reached out and placed her right hand over Kirk's forehead, fingers splayed open so a few digits touched her temple. Kirk was fine, just a minor concussion. Using a bit of Core, Green sent it into Kirk to reduce the concussion enough to wake her up. Groaning with the effort she then pulled her hand back and rolled onto her back, placing her hand back over her own wound.
Kirk's eyes began to flutter open.
"Relax Jamie, your going to be fine," Tara said "Alesha is going to her fighter, she'll cloak and bring up the rear. Jynxza won't be able to hit Rivers as she can't fire on what she can't see. It's almost over. Commander I'm glad to see you."
Alesha had made it to her fighter, climbed aboard, fired the engines and cloaked while bringing her weapons online, signaling Cosmo she was ready lifted off and flew out and waited for the Delta to emerge.
Kirk raised a hand lazily and gave a thumbs up in response.
Cosmo activated the comm. "Lieutenant Rivers, you lead I'll follow." He piloted the Delta out of the corridor and into the large open landing area within the asteroid, seeing Rivers and her fighter ahead. "I will head for Amandora post haste once we are clear."
"Anything gets in our way I'll destroy it, Let's go," Alesha said as she headed toward the Amandora. Once we get to the ship you land first, I'll cover just in case she tries anything."
Both craft wound their way back out the way they had flown into the asteroid. Upon exiting the tunnel Cosmo noted that the freighter that had been damaged and aided by Amandora was now gone. The only one left was the derelict. With wounded on board there was no time for a chase. Both craft got back to Amandora without incident, with Alesha breaking off so that Cosmo could land first. He arrived and landed in shuttle bay 2.
Once Cosmo landed on the Amandora, Alesha headed for the fighter bay and landed. Shutting down she climbed out, tossed her helmet onto the seat, closed the canopy and headed for shuttle bay 2, she'd tend to her fighter later. That little droid had been a welcomed help.
Following Starfleet protocols, Cosmo activated the transporter and sent Bjorgo, Green and Kirk to Sickbay to the patient arrival area. Disconnecting himself from the Delta control system he then opened the aft hatch and rolled into the aft section. "We are safe and home, Lieutenant Herculoid. I need to go see Master Ro. Please, pardon me." He rolled down the ramp to see Rivers coming. He stopped a moment. "Thank you both for your bravery. My Master will be fully functional in no time due to your actions."
"It was my pleasure," Alesha said "I only wish we could have gotten to Dr.Borgo in time. Your a brave little guy as well."
Tara walked from the Delta and closed the aft hatch "Cosmo good job. Kristian adored Bjorgo she's going to be crushed when she finds out he's dead same with the commodore."
Alesha nodded "But we all know the risks."
"In the Galactic Republic, heroes such as Doctor Bjorgo die every day to secure freedom. It is a heavy cost, but one we must all be willing to pay. I will see you both later." He rolled on and out of the shuttle bay.
"Mum would like him," Alesha giggled
"That she would," Tara agreed "We both have reports to do."
"And I have a fighter to secure," Alesha said giving Tara a playful punch in the shoulder.
The two Amazon's headed out both going in opposite directions.
